Why do so many Americans think the country has lost its way?
The country has changed dramatically since its founders first conceived of it as a republic with democratic foundations. The effects of history (particularly during the middle of the Twentieth Century) have pushed America closer to a centrally-planned state than any of its founders might have imagined. Their idea of America was a place where people could come to lead lives of their own individual design. Instead, Americans have become slaves to consumerism, convenience and a government that (like most governments) is eager to tell them how to live.
There's still time to reclaim the original idea of America. The tools for restoring America's promise are all around. People just need to look at politics and public life differently. ...this book would recieve a 5/5 from me. Terrible editing aside, Libertarian Nation is a great introduction to libertarian ideals. James Walsh puts forth a comprehensive guide book that includes the importance of personal liberty, economic freedom, property rights, and individual responsibility. The glory of Capitalism and the American spirit are also fixtures in Libertarian Nation. So, while the grammer may be distracting, the core message of freedom, not just for some but for all, is reason enough to read and enjoy this great book.

I like many Americans, have been sickened by all of the bi-partisianship between the Republicans and Democrats so I decided to read this book from the Libertarian point of view to see what it said. I was looking for something to be fair and fact based and a discussion on the views agenda for the Libertarian crowd. What I got was a book that is very poorly edited with grammar issues throughout and full of very opinionated rhetoric about various political figures and agendas. To me it seemed like just another political entertainment book in the likes of Limbaugh, Beck, and various other individuals who claim to be involved with politics but are really just entertainers. If you get charged up by name calling and finger pointing then you may like this, if you are looking for a serious book though this is not for you.
