    Accounts of truth

If you are looking for a historical account of why we think the way we do esp. Here in America this gives you a clear explanation. I cross referenced it with several sources and it made me rethink thru ways I was taught. It caused me to look at people in a way of people groups not race. Thats kinda cool I think.

This book took me a long time to read, a really long time ¿ not

This book took me a long time to read, a really long time – not because it wasn’t interesting but because there were so many facts and other interesting tidbits of information that taking it all in left me sometimes, a little brain dead. I’m a Biblical Creationist, which means that I believe God created the world as it’s stated in Genesis in 6 days and rested on the 7 th – 24 hour days, not 1000 year days or other such nonsense. So that also makes me one of the ‘crazy’ Young Earthers that are so often blasted in the media and by secular scientists. I’m so glad I read this book and will be coming back to it because, if you’re a Christian, you’re going to want to know how to defend your faith and that faith starts in Genesis – if you can’t take Genesis as literal then how can one think the rest of the Bible should be literal? Genesis is the foundation or the literal beginning of everything that Christians believe – including Jesus coming to live among us.

This book will allow you, if you haven’t already, understand why Genesis should be taken as literal and how to defend that faith – to both non-Believers and even Believers who believe in old earth or even that God used evolution to create the world. Covering such areas as: Christianity being under attack, evolution and religion, creation and religion, the root of the problem, crumbling foundations, evangelism in a pagan world and more you’ll come away with a better understanding of what it means to embrace the whole Bible in it’s literal form. Now, some might say I’m just embracing Ken Ham’s beliefs but that isn’t what this book is about it’s about teaching the Christian how to embrace Genesis as our foundation of God’s power and how to defend that using Scripture.

So, if you’re a Christian who believes in any form of evolution such as the gap theory, day age, or just outright Darwinian evolution you should grab this book and read it with an open mind, much prayer and seeking the Scriptures as well as seeking out Christian scientific studies. If you’re a Christian who is floundering in a world that teaches Genesis isn’t real or in a church who espouses that God used evolution and you want to know how to stand firm then this book is for you too.

Ken Ham first wrote “The Lie” twenty-five years ago. This is an updated edition of that book. Mr. Ham is head of ‘Answers in Genesis’, a group of people dedicated to the truth of the Word of God, particularly the first eleven chapters of it. The title of the book “The Lie” refers to the theory of evolution and/or the idea that it took millions or billions of years to get where we are today.

Mr. Ham writes that Christianity is under attack. If non-believers can foster doubt about the first book of the Bible, it is easier then for them to call into question the rest of God’s Word. “The Lie” says that most every conflict between believers and non-believers stems from a question of authority. It is a case of ‘man’s word vs. God’s Word”.

Much of our society’s thinking today is based on relative morality, “…that is, a person can do what he likes and is answerable to no one but himself as long as the majority of people can be persuaded that their interests are not being threatened” (p. 34). God has placed a set of standards into our hands in the form of the Bible, therefore, we see the idea of ‘man’s word vs. God’s Word’ played out daily in our culture.

Mr. Ham believes, rightly so, that there is a religion (a belief system), called evolution, being taught in our public schools today. It is a religion whose faith is in the belief that the universe did not need a creator. They believe that the universe somehow created itself; and it is with this presupposition that they evaluate the universe. Granted, Christians begin with the presupposition that God created the universe; but Christians have a record of our origins written by the only one who was there, the Creator.

Mr. Ham cautions believers never to give up their presuppositions when debating or discussing with non-believers or skeptics. He says that there is no neutral ground; everyone comes to the discussion with presuppositions based on whatever he or she holds to be authoritative.

Mr. Ham believes that much of Christianity’s energy is being squandered in addressing the symptoms of godless worldviews (i.e. same sex marriage, abortion, permissiveness, moral relativism, racism) when we should be challenging the foundations of their worldview, and the basis of their authority. One major lesson presented in “The Lie” is that Christians, young and old, need to be taught why they believe what they believe and how to defend that belief. “…always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you…” (I Peter 3:15 ESV).

The reasons and reasoning in this book are sound. I encourage every Christian to read it, it will strengthen the Christian’s faith in the historicity of the Bible by showing that the first chapters of Genesis, which concern the origins of the universe, can be taken as written and do not have to be altered to fit a secular-naturalistic-humanistic concept of evolution.

[I was given a copy of this book to review. The opinions stated here are expressly mine unless otherwise note.]

Perhaps the most scary thing is the fact that ALL SEVEN ONE STAR REVIEWS were written by people who did not read the book. Six of them were not brave enough or informed enough to write anything about the book, they merely clicked the one star button and ran away, listing themselves as Anonymous. One of them asked why this wasn't under mythology, and provided not one reason for why it should be except his own arbitrary logic, and gave not one reason why it was not science. Now my review.Let me say that the world will call us all fools for denying its false gods. However, we know that our God is God of Heaven and Of Earth, and all treasures of Wisdom and Knowledge are hid in Him. When we learn of God we will truly be wise. The attack on Creation is an example of wisdom from God versus the words of sinful rebellious man. Christians who insist on believing what God's Wisdom says about Creation instead of mans reason says about naturalism, millions of years, evolution will be called fools. The Lie: Evolution was written by Mr. Ken Ham, twenty five years ago and now republished by Master books, a division of New Leaf Publishing Group, offered free for review. The new edition has matured, Mr. Ham says, and I think that is a perfect word for it. In the first edition, Mr. Ham used evidential apologetics- trying to convince people of creation by the record God left of His handiwork in genetics, the fossil record, and all the other evidence. The problem with this approach is that you can present all the evidence for Noah's flood, and Creation, yet people will still say "Well I didn't hear any evidence for Creation. So much for that." This is what happened to Mr. Ham on a radio show. The ultimate problem was the glasses the man was wearing- his presuppositions. He had so many presuppositions that he could only interpret the evidence inline with his presuppositions. The presuppositions would not let him see any thing other. Now, presuppositions are not the problem. We all have them. We need them. However- they must be presuppositions based on the Word of God, the Truth. When we start with Biblical glasses, we will consistently explain everything from a Biblical perspective. When they start with godless glasses, they will devise a godless explanation for everything, because they must, or they would have to give up their godless glasses. As one evolutionist said- "We cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door...."
This is so exciting- to realize that evolution does not own the evidence. Evolutionists have the same evidence we have- they are interpreting it differently. As Mr. Ham says "Many documentaries are shown on TV supposedly giving evidence for evolution, but if one turns the sound off, the same evidence can be explained in terms of Creation, and then observational science used to confirm this."

Why does all this matter? Why should we be willing to look like fools to the world by denying the gods of our age: "science", "evolution", "millions and billions of years ago"? Why not satisfy our intellectual pride and be normal- adding evolution to the Bible? Surely that will produce good kids who can still succeed in the ways of the world? How close to the evolutionary cliff can we drive before we fall into godlessness? The back cover of the book says it all. Churches that accept evolution/ millions of years of death and suffering as God's way of creating are denying the full authority and accuracy of the Bible from the first verse.

Most Christians, my family included before we met AIG and its books, thought we needed evolution because "it is science- and we need to teach our children science." A good portion of our problem is that we don't understand the real nature of science. That hampers us as Christians, and allows evolution an easy victory because evolutionists claim they are scientific.
I was on the National Science Teachers Association last week, to see what they think of Creationists, Home educated children, and Ken Ham. None of those words are viewed in a favorable light on that place. A very interesting observation is the frequency of times "what do I do with a Creationist student in my classroom?" appeared as a question in the forum on the NSTA and NEA National Educators association. The answer that the more experienced teachers seemed to give most often was to redirect the student by telling them that "CREATION IS RELIGION. EVOLUTION IS SCIENCE. WE MUST NOT COMPARE THEM" The strongest answer they have to give to creationists is the idea that Creation science is religion and naturalism/ evolution is science? Knowing that we can now focus on figuring out a response to this charge of the false dichotomy- the idea that religion and science NEVER meet. Thankfully, Ken Ham's newly revised and Expanded THE LIE Evolution/ Millions of Years contains two chapters on this very thing.
As Mr. Ham says, "When lecturing in schools and colleges, sometimes I like to ask the students what can be learned from a fossil deposit. I ask the students whether all the animals and plants contained in the deposits lived together, died together, or were buried together. I warn them to make sure that the answer they give me is consistent with true scientific research. As they think about it, they come to realize that they do not know if the animals lived together... they do not know if they died together. All they really know is that they were buried together." We need to know the true nature of science, what it can tell us and what it cannot. Then we can use science for the Glory of God.

Mr Ham is the founder and president of the ministry Answers In Genesis, which offers many FREE BOOKS books to read online, including four that I own after I read a good deal of them for free- The Answers Book One, Two and Three, each 300 page book containing 20 or more answers to questions about Creation, Science, God and the Bible. Answers in Genesis also offers hundreds of Free Videos and lectures online in their video section, and hundreds of articles on hundreds of topics- medicine to geology. Visit, read a lot, read often, and be educated.

The Lie: Evolution/ Millions of Years by Ken Ham, is a new revis

The Lie: Evolution/ Millions of Years by Ken Ham, is a new revised and expanded anniversary edition of his original book published 25 years ago. The author explains the fallacies of evolution and dispels the myths surrounding the theory of evolution which so many readily accept as fact. Ken Ham equates the theory of evolution to a type of religion in which its advocates accept the theory based on their biased or incomplete world view. In fact, evolution has become the dominating religion in secular society and schools alike. The reference on the cover and within the book to "Millions of Years" is a new insertion from the originally published book. This refers to the fact that there are many self proclaimed Christians and religious who try and reconcile their faith with evolution by erroneously claiming that even though God initiated creation, it still occured through the process of natural evolution, slowly over the course of millions of years.

In The Lie, the author explains that the debate over evolution is clear cut- and in a sense it serves as a litmus test as to whether a person is truly a believer in the gosepl of Christ. Using Jesus' words from the New Testament in which Jesus told his listeners that they were either for or against the gospel, likewise Ham states that either one fully accepts the bible as the word of God including the 7 day creation account in Genesis, or rejects the word of God in favor of man's views which are reflected by the theory of evolution. As it is, many nominal church goers as well as athiests and non religious readers starting with a world view that rejects the existance of God, will most likely reject the argument presented by this book without serious consideration. Evolution is referred to as a lie in that it is a misrepresentation of the truth and a corruption presented by those whose world view denys God.

This book isn't simply a critique of evolution. In this eye-opening book, the author makes the important connection between the Genesis account of the creation and the fall, to the life saving gospel message of Jesus. The gap in understanding will be filled in the author's presentation where he bridges the old testament account of Genesis with the Good News of Christ! Furthermore, the author presents archological, historical and scientific facts to back up the biblical argument of a seven day creation as explained in Genesis of the bible. For example, the fossil evidence supports the idea of a world wide flood. Ancient artifacts and architechture reveal complex and advanced ancient civilizations in contrast to the sterotype of the beastial, simple minded caveman. The problem with trying to reconcile God's word with the theory of evolution is explained. If the world with its so called primitive organisms, dinosaurs, and caveman - existed or predated the first man and woman, then death would have been in existance before the first sin (the first act of disobbediance) occured. Yet the bible clearly states that death was a direct consequence of the first sin. Therefore if one claims millions of years of eveolution occured before the first man and woman, then the claim is that God created an imperfect world that included death and decay.

Want Good Arguments? Look in a Different Book.

This book does not build a case against evolution (no evidence, only assertions). Nor does it build a case for creationism, other than starting with the assertion that the Bible is true. Ken Ham's entire argument is that evolutuon is a religion too (it isn't). He does his best to make other young earth creationists feel good in this book. If he is trying to convince anyone, it could only be those who already are of the same mindset as he is. Waste of time, money and effort. I would nkt recommend this to anyone.

Pretty good. If you're looking for actual evidence proving or disproving either evolution or creation, this isn't the book for you. It basically talks about how evolution should also be considered a religion because they don't have proof and whatnot. He talks a lot about how in terms of beliefs and theorys, creationism and evolution are both unable to be proven, therefore schools shouldn't be allowed to present evolutionism as such a scientific fact. He also went over how creationism and evolution can't coencide. So if you're interested in those topics it probably would be a good book for you.
