More About This Book

Overview

The latest stand alone contemporary romance (with an HEA!) from a USA TODAY bestselling author...

"THIS book is what makes reading about family and relationships and deep, everlasting love worth every moment spent between the pages." -- Goodreads reviewer

*** The man who saved her is also the man who destroyed her... or is he? ***

Seven years ago, I decided I wanted to be a fighter. Marcus Roma showed me how.

Six years ago, my parents died in a car accident. Marcus Roma picked me up off the ground and held me until I could stand on my own two feet.

Five years ago, I fell in love with him.

And then Marcus Roma disappeared. No warning. No explanation. Just gone.

Yesterday, he came back.

And now I have to decide who's telling the truth, and who's lying. Who wants something from me, and who wants...

Me.

If I guess wrong, I could lose everything. I need to think clearly. But Marcus makes that impossible. Marcus makes me weak. Marcus makes me want, in a way I've never felt before.

Marcus Roma will make me fall. The only question is--will he be there to catch me this time?

LIE TO ME is a new adult / adult contemporary romance novel about truth, lies, and redemption. It contains mature scenes and language and is not intended for readers under the age of 18.

A copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.
“It’s been five years since he dropped out of my life with no warning, no real explanation, five years since he just left.”
Where do I start with this review???
I loved it. I loved the characters, I loved the story, I loved the romance.
    “Lie to me.”
The characters say “lie to me” when they want the other to tell them the opposite to help them get over their fear or concerns. I loved those scenes.

“Lie to me. Tell me I won’t have to love you for the rest of my life.”
The intimate scenes were intense and hot, but it was not about sex. You felt the connection. You felt the need.
Marcus Roma left Harlow 5 years ago without an explanation. Suddenly he shows up and he wants Harlow back. But there is a reason he left Harlow 5 years ago and that reason *sigh* can I just tell you I could not love Marcus more. That man. And Harlow…how could she trust and take back the man that left her without a word five years ago when she needed him most. When she finally got custody of her brother after her parents died? Life had not been easy for Harlow in those five years that Marcus was absent. But Marcus was a man who knew what he wanted and did everything to get it. He was going to fight to get back what he lost all those years ago. So protective, so alpha; I loved that man. I did not want to miss one word written in the story. The flashbacks were told at a perfect pace from the characters. I felt like the author truly thought out the story, the plot and the characters. There were no dull moments in the story.
I never read anything by Chloe Cox before. WOW. Her writing blew me away. I noticed more and more it is hard for authors to pull of the whole dual POVs in books. Sometimes when authors write dual POVs, there is no suspense; the story loses its intensity. Not in this book. Chloe Cox does an AMAZING job. She switched the POVs at a perfect pace.
“Nothing will ever be as beautiful as you, like this.”
When I started this book, I could not put it down and when I was “forced” to put it down, I thought about the characters. It was beautiful, it was sad, it was everything. Marcus was so protective and loving and Harlow was everything I love in a heroine; loving, caring, protective, unselfish…a good person.
“I wish to God it wasn’t you.”
I am finishing this review and looking up the next Chloe Cox book I am going to read. Loved this one. Highly recommend to everyone who loves a great love story.
    P.S. I can’t wait for Brison’s story.

    Loved it

I have to say I love all of Chloe Cox books, although they are erotic there is always a story, romance, the entire roller coaster. I'm don't give much away when I give reviews, so here it is; she care for the little brother, she's fighting to keep her parents house and he left her due to his loser father promising him that if he left he would guarantee she would get custody of her brother. He comes back to try to get her to sell her home to his father and developer ad things unravel from there.

Lie to Me is based on the story and history of the 2 main characters, Harlow and Marcus. This book is written in a dual-first person point of view and turned out to be a very easy read. Throughout their journey they are faced with many obstacles and tested emotionally with every turn they make. Harlow and Marcus share such a strong connection that no matter how much Harlow tries to fight it, she’s drawn to Marcus by that driving force. This was the first book that I’ve read from this author and I can’t wait to see more from this series and her others.

3.75 stars:  LIE TO ME is the first instalment in Chloe Cox¿s co

3.75 stars:  LIE TO ME is the first instalment in Chloe Cox’s contemporary, new adult Redemption series. The premise follows our couple Marcus and Hollow as Marcus attempts to re-connect with the woman from whom he walked away-five years earlier.
Lie to Me is a written narrative with much of the storyline focusing on the back history and events leading to the present day. The reader learns how and why Marcus and Hollow met; their family histories and exactly where and when everything changed. But I will add, that the elephant in the room-why Marcus left-is not revealed until the final pages of the book. Because of the style of story telling-there is limited one on one time and conversation, until the story focuses on the present day situation.
Chloe Cox builds a storyline using memories, flashbacks and personal musings as alternating chapters are told from first person POV between Hollow and Marcus. There is definitely a history between our leading couple and one that faced many obstacles including the death of Hollow’s parents and Marcus’s father. But we will learn that not everyone and everything is as they seem, especially when Marcus returns following a five year absence-and the why will follow two paths both leading back to Hollow and her younger brother Dill.
Lie to Me is a story about heartbreak and betrayal; lies and telling the truth; family and friends; forgiveness and love. But it is also a story about one man’s desire to protect the woman that he loves and in doing so discovers that he has caused more pain and heartbreak than he could have possibly imagined.

    Really loved this story

I love all of Chloe's books. This was not as erotic as the ones I have read in the past, but the story was really awesome, I could not put it down! The best part of this book is it is a complete story not a continuation like so many are. It was 769 pages on my nook. This is a must read!!! It still has the hot steamy elements packed with an emotional love story. I am looking forward to Brison' s story

The best word to describe this book is deep. I enjoyed how with Marcus and Harlow’s narration they were able to take you back in time so that you really understand the heart of the matter and how it affects their present feelings and reactions. I generally do not like books written in the first person, however switching between Marcus and Harlow’s point of view, I was able to get the big picture that is many times left out stories written in this format. I found their story to be touching and it raises the question, is love enough? Awesome book and I cannot wait till the next one is out. Lie to me and tell me it will be out tomorrow. ;-)

Huge Fan!! This book was awesome!!! Harlow and Marcus are so good for each other! Marcus is such a strong character! I love the way "Lie to Me" was a thing for this, they way they used it in a good way instead of a negative way! THis is her usual BDSM Book, it is a whole different Romance Book, but it doesn't let you done.
It has a full story and you just get caught in these characters, there are a lot of flashbacks so you are never left wondering or without previous knowledge of how they got to this point in there lives.
