Overview

In the 23rd century, war has ravaged the planet.

A biological weapon has decimated the population, and those who remain have been driven to desperate measures to survive. Over the course of a century, evolution delivers an answer — the Xeno gene, which provides its bearers with immunity to disease. All adolescent girls are tested for the X-gene, and carriers are obligated to bear children for the good of the human race.

The promise of salvation comes at a terrible price.

Stone Emmerson, heir to a position of supreme power, is surprised to learn his best friend Kella is an X-gene carrier. He’s quick to claim her as his own, but as a mere servant, Kella can’t help but doubt his motives. Before he can offer the protection of his name, she escapes his household. Mourning her loss, Stone becomes a black sheep among his peers by focusing on the welfare of his people.

While survival and freedom hang in the balance…

Starting over under an assumed name, Kella is a founding member of the X-Diplomats, a radical group dedicated to stopping enforced X-gene testing and promoting equal rights for commoners. Years pass before she crosses paths with Stone again. As the web of deceit that has come between them unravels, their love begins to grow. But can Stone turn a blind eye to Kella’s violent revolution and see the justice of her cause? Or will their differences prove too great to overcome?

What price would you pay to break the chains of oppression?

Kella raised in the place with the Heir to sector 2 they were the best of friend and conspirators until the the Xeno gene was found on her birthday and put a end to all her dreams and hope for a future. The auction and what happened after destroyed her even more. How could Stone ever let this happen to her the love of her life. Stone is heir of extreme power, he was making a rainbow cake to celebrate Kella birthday when the horrible news gets to him. He tries to rush to step in before she is sold or anything bad happens to her but all he can do is buy her. She disappears and her body is found, he turns into ghost of the man he should have been but he will not let there dreams of life die. He does everything to change the horror of what happen to her in Memory. His love for Kella never died and he was very determined to make things better as he ruled as Regency. Author Gracen Miller has done such a great job with this story it is very heartful and the characters bring so much soul to the book. The story keeps you on the edge from the beginning all the way to the end. The characters are creative, heartfelt, and makes you want what will be around the next corner. I am looking forward to the next story that Gracen Miller writes and see what the next book brings.

Lie To Me is a fantastic epic adventure that will delight you with non-stop action awhile setting your imagination ablaze. This is a story that will easily pull you into many different directions at once. Just when you think you know what will happen next, a wonderfully unexpected twist will come along and turn everything on its ear. I thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to enjoy such a deeply multi-faceted journey whose incredibly astounding characters will steal your heart and take your breath away with the magnitude of their depth. What would you do if you were born into the wrong family, or perhaps the wrong side of the tracks, or even the wrong part of society? Would you have the heart and fortitude to stay brave and fight for your dreams? Could you deal with the injustices that happened to you and those like you? Would you throw aside the chance at a love more pure and powerful that you ever imagined over lies that seemed more true and honest based on the world you were born in? This is the kind of life that Kella finds herself in, and rather than believe in the friendship and honesty shared between best friends and risk her heart being torn to shreds, she choose to believe in a very convincing and deadly lie. While living her new, she comes face to face with the one person she thought she would never see again. While her heart betrays her at the very sight of him, her mind fights to protect her from inevitable heartbreak and disappointment. Can Stone convince Kella that she has believed a lie all this time and show her the light of the truth, or will she distance herself once and for all from any more hurt and devastation from her past? I couldn’t have been more pleased to find such incredibly amazing characters throughout this story! Even the ones I loved to hate were wonderfully fleshed out making them deeply spellbinding in their own right. It was so easy to relate to Kella and her precarious place in society, and I loved seeing her vulnerability and honesty throughout the story. When she opened herself to Stone, she did it with complete confidence that he would either accept her reject her completely. With her there was no middle ground, and that gave Stone the perfect way to show her that what he felt and would always feel towards her was nothing short of genuine and lasting. He accepted all of her no matter what anyone else thought, and once she understood this, it empowered her like nothing else. Standing apart from other is much easier when you have someone else to stand next to you. Gracen Miller has enthralled me with her astonishing imagination and her absolutely humbling heart. With her exquisite talent, she will have you under her spell in no time, and you will not want to leave the truly impressive and unforgettable world that she has created. This is one author that will make a lasting impression on every part of your heart and mind.

This story had me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning of the book. Author Gracen Miller has this knack for creating characters that grab you by your heart and soul and practically rip it out of you. Even when I was not reading, this book was all I thought about. I work full time, I go to school full time and I have a husband and two kids. I read this book very quickly. THAT tells you a lot! I could not put it down. I could not help but ask myself a million questions. I wanted to so desperately tell each character to do this and not to do that or kick them in the rear end for doing something I knew was right but would come back on them later. The writing in this book has a way of making the characters become real. They are your friends, your enemies, your family and part of you. I was so caught up in this story, I swear I was living it along with the main character. In case you have not noticed (or you did) I did not give ANY book specifics because I am a TRUE believer in being spoiler free. I am an emotional reviewer and that is what I give in my reviews. Take it or leave it, it is your choice but I say if you pass this book up, you are passing up an amazing opportunity to live in a world that rock your world!

As I have said before, YA Paranormal is my all time favorite genre, but there have been times where I have been known to step outside my comfort zone and read other genres... I have been following this author for many years now and have read everything this author has ever written and loved everything about her work. This book is no different! I enjoyed every minute of this story! It's based in a futuristic setting about slavery, and the difference between 'Dregs' and the 'Regency'. I loved how controversially well written this story is. The characters are amazing and I couldn't put the book down. Kella I absolutely fell in love with this character from the beginning! I loved her strength, tenacity, wittiness, and overall personality. I felt as if I could connect with this character on a personal level. You could feel what the character was feeling as the words poured off the pages. This is a magnificent character. Stone This character never gave up and that's what I loved about this character. His love for Kella never died and he was very determined to make things better as he ruled as Regency. Kella and Stone These two characters together made a deliciously addicting story!! They had a lot of love for each other and it really showed throughout this story. I loved the rebellion and the X-Diplomats in this story. I loved how the author pulled it all together and made it an enjoyable read. Yes, there is diversity and slavery but the author had a phenomenal way of spinning this this tale and still making it tasteful and delightful to read! I highly recommend this story to adults who love adventure, excitement, and romance!! You won't regret reading this one!! The author provided me with a digital ARC copy of the book for review purposes only. No remuneration was exchanged.

Once again Gracen Miller takes us on a compelling journey we cannot help be get engrossed in from the start. Stone Emmerson is one of the elite. He is the young heir to a district that tests young girls for this elusive Xeno gene. You would think that possession of the X-gene would be a good thing. These are the girls who will grow up and be able to produce the next generation at a time when having healthy children is a rarity. Instead possessing the X-gene is a one way ticket to sexual slavery. Young girls are sold on the auction block to the highest bidder like cattle. Kella is a servant in Stone's home and Stone's best friend. When she is finally old enough to be tested and it is discovered that she has of the rare X-gene Stone's father auctions her off. This is where the story really gets interesting as in an effort to save her Stone purchases Kella. Setting off a long series of misunderstandings and Kella's flight from all that she has ever known. A series of misunderstandings and several years later, Ella, or Mac as she has come to be known, and Stone, who has grieved for his best friend all these years, come face to face again and unbelievably, the story gets even better! Miller shows us a world where things are perfect, if you are an elite, but far from it from the other side. A world where those fighting the system for equality for all, especially X-gene carriers, are considered terrorists and punished. And those charged with law and order encourage the sexual slavery of children. I never thought I'd read a book and root for the “terrorists”. However, with every attack and every coop, Miller had me rooting for the X-Diplomats and you will be too. Once started, I could not put Lie to Me down. With strong main characters and even stronger secondary characters, this is a series you do not want to miss. I hope Miller decides to write Creed and Reaper's stories. I can't wait to see what those two can get up to and meet the lucky people who get to take those two on.

One of my favorites from this author. The unique world and political intrigue fascinated me and drew me into the story until I was hooked. The world building was incredible and definitely my favorite part of the story. This is a Dystopian novel done right. It shows the reader just how messed up of a world these characters are living in. Lie to Me is not for the faint of heart. The story is intense and dark, gritty and sexy. Nothing is sugar coated, which is refreshing. I enjoyed seeing the darker aspects of the book in full glory versus being glossed over; I like that Gracen often pushes those boundaries in order to make the story real. Though the story deals with the heavy topics of segregation, sexual slavery, and violence, the book never feels overdone or weighed down. That is the mark of a great storyteller. Gracen balances all the bad with good writing, badass characters, and a thrilling plot. She writes with a wonderful fluidity that never allows for a dull moment. The characters are written in such a believable way. They feel like real people. I love how passionate and dedicated they are; it really comes through in the writing. Kella and Stone's story is tragic, yet hopeful. Lie to Me is a New Adult novel, so it has just the right amount of steaminess to compliment everything else happening in the story. The pair had a sizzling chemistry that built up over time instead of happening automatically. The build up is well worth the wait! Lie to Me was a great adventure, one I recommend to anyone looking for a Dystopian with a bit of darkness and spice. I would love to see more in this world. I think it would be interesting to see things changing in the other Quads.

Gracen has woven a great futuristic tale with amazingly captivating characters. I couldn't put it down once I started. Kella is exceptionally strong and devoted to her beliefs. I love her spunk. Stone remains devoted to Kella even when he believes she is dead. I love his persistence and passion. Lie to Me is an awesome story about rising above cultural divides and following your heart. A story filled with action, passion, friendship, and love. Highly recommended!!!!

Not a lot I can say here, as many of you will not have had a chance to read this yet, and well I'm known for being really vague in my reviews. It isn't that I don't want to talk about the books I read, I do. I just feel a need to make sure everyone has the opportunity to ride the waves of emotions and see the full picture the words paint for you, before I have a conversation with you about it. I will say that I was excited to read this book, mainly because it is so far out of Gracen's normal genre, and I wanted to see what her wicked mind could come up with. She did not disappoint! Interesting, and nicely developed characters, mystery and adventure all taking place in a dystopian world. There are injustices, lies, and an off-balance of rights and wrongs. Kella is thrown into a world far different from what she grew up in, at a very young age. You spend some time trying to figure out how you feel about Stone - and I'm not going to give you my opinion of him, I'll just say that he was definitely not what I expected. What you need to know is I enjoyed the book, and look forward to reading the next. I felt that the imagery was good, I could see the world develop, as I read. I felt a nice connection with Kella, and I had my emotional roller-coaster, so Gracen did her job very well. You also need to know that this is nothing like The Road to Hell series, so do not read it thinking it is going to be a typical Gracen Miller book - because it isn't. It is, however, a good book, and definitely one I would recommend you read, even if dystopian isn't your genre.
