Overview

Shara Brandt doesn't know how she wound up, beaten and exhausted, on a creek bank behind a school in rural Rock Harbor. She has no idea who murdered her grandmother. What she does know is she has one chance to learn the truth about Lydia's murder, to clear her own name, and to be safe from a past that haunts her. That chance is to live a borrowed life under the alias "Bethany Elias."

Emotionally bruised after his ugly divorce, Bryan Jacobs doesn't believe in trusting anyone with his heart. He certainly doesn't trust the newcomer, Bethany. He is convinced she could be the heiress wanted for murder. Most of all, he doesn't trust the faint stirring of something deep in his soul each time he sees her.

It is their search for truth that will bond them or shatter them, but only if they are willing to take a chance.

    First Nook Book I ever bought...and it's a winner!

I just got a Nook for my birthday a couple weeks back and, after looking at all the titles available, decided to take a CHANCE on this new author. I'm so glad I did!

This book has everything you're looking for in a good summer read: Action, adventure, mystery, romance, and just enough naughtiness to make it fun. She obviously knows her characters very well, and by the time you get done reading the book, so will you. Personally, I wouldn't mind living in Rock Harbor!

This is one of those books that makes you look for more titles by this author, and I see she has another one out there. You can bet that I'll be reading it very soon!

This is a winner! You will not regret this purchase!

    Bradley Keeps Getting Better

Just finished reading it this week-end. Hard to call it a real page turner when you read it electronically and there are no real pages to turn. My bad puns aside, this has a nice, well-paced story; enough melodrama without being over the top; and as Sarah promised, it isn't overly girlie and has enough action for her male readers. Great sophomore effort, Sarah. Go out and buy it.

Another winner from Sarah J. Bradley!

Sarah J. Bradley is fast becoming my favorite new author. I loved her first release, "Dream in Color" so I was excited to see "Lies in Chance" was finally out, after months of promise on her blog.

"Lies in Chance" definitely taps in to the author's dark side. Don't let the rural setting fool you: there is nothing cute or sweet about anything in the tiny town of Rock Harbor. The book opens with a battered womany lying in a creek and the ride does not let up.

The pacing of the book feels like something written for the screen, which only gives the reading experience a more vibrant feel. You are not a passive reader with "Lies in Chance." You are part of the action all the way through! Guys, this might be listed as a "romantic suspense" but this story is equal parts suspense and romance and you might just love this book!

Books like this are a big reason why I own a Nook. Stories like this simply are not being told in traditional publishing.

Another Amazing Novel from Sarah Bradley!

From the very first suspenseful pages, when Shara Brandt emerges with no memory out of a creek, you will be hooked on this exciting romantic suspense novel, from author Sarah Bradley. Get to know and fall in love with the small town Wisconsin characters, Drew, Joanna, Molly, and the tortured Bryan. Learn the secrets they keep, why several of them need to protect Shara from the truth of her past, and what happens when that truth is revealed. Most of all, read it for the love story between Shara and Bryan. Readers of romantic suspense will not be disappointed. Kudos to author Sarah Bradley on another exceptional novel!

A romantic suspense for all readers.

Sarah J. Bradley's second novel is a character driven romantic suspense that hearkens back to the days of the prime time soap operas like Dallas and Knots Landing. All of the action takes place in one tiny little town in Notheastern Wisconsin...not exactly a hotbed of glamour. Yet, from the first moment, when we see Shara Bandt waking in the cold creek, with nothing but sketchy horrifying images in her head, we are thrown into a place that is as dramatic and enticing as any shiny big city.

Plot wise, the author does almost nothing to keep us guessing. Putting us into the minds of every main character, we readers know more than the characters themselves from the first. And yet, you will not be able to stop turning the page. What the author has done is created a cast of living, breathing characters. There's the waif- like heiress Shara, who grows up before our very eyes into a true romantic heroine. There's the tortured Bryan, the dark, reluctant, anti hero with home you will be in love by story's end. Drew, Joanna, Molly, Jennifer, Richard...these are all people you are going to come to know very, very well reading this book.

Oh, and male readers, don't let the romantic suspense tag put you off. This book is as much about murder and mystery as it is about romance.

This is definitely NOT a book for children. While there's nothing truly graphic in the novel, several possibly disturbing elements involving sex and/or violence are alluded to. Overall, the tone of the book is one that may be inappropriate for those under the age of 16.

    Needs proofreading

Too many improbable coincidences. Characters well developed and likeable (the "good" characters). Bryan seemed a bit wimpy to mourn a lost love for three years, especially when he hardly knew her and she cheated on him from rhe beginning.
