Overview

I fell in love with a married man. It wasn't how it was meant to go. But I don't regret it.

A friendship is formed. A relationship is built out of the weakest foundations. A love that blossoms until it's riding on the edge of dangerous. A forbidden love that will change their worlds forever.

My mother was taken from me when I was just a girl. She disappeared into nothing, leaving us no answers, no clues, and no closure.

Ten years on and my life has never been the same. My brother is withdrawn and angry, caught up in a world of drugs and pain. My father barely speaks.

I don't have answers.

I don't know if my mother is okay. I don't know if my life will ever be the same.
How can you move on when you just don't know?

Then I meet Nate.

Champion Motocross Racer. Bad boy. Married.

He will soon become my everything. There's only one problem with that. He's not mine to have. Our relationship isn't right. Our love is forbidden.

Nate teaches me to breathe again.

He teaches me to laugh. But most of all he teaches me that regardless of the pain I've lived through, that there is, in fact, Life After Taylah.

    Wow

    What a beautiful, beautiful story.

This one sat on my wishlist while i decided if i really wanted to read about a married man having an affair. I'm a big fan of Bella's MC books, but I just wasnt sure i wanted to read this one.

So so so glad i did. Its not your typical married man / other woman story. Its deep and emotional. I went through all the major emotions reading this. Anger, frustration, happiness, tears.....its all there in this amazing book.

I will read it again and again. Do yourself a favor and give it a shot.

I WAS NOT given a copy of this book for my honest review :)

    ¿A true treasure.....¿

    My rating: 5 of 5 ¿¿

Over a decade ago on a very ordinary day and without any preamble, Avery's happy family was torn apart with the disappearance off her mother. Left behind were Avery's father, who lost all resemblance to the man he once was, and her brother Liam, who's pain and anger had spiralled into self-destructive behaviour. And then there was Avery, who was carefully manouvreing between the people in her life, trying her best to keep the waters settled and holding the tatters of her family together. Living with the constant void had made Avery numb.

The only thing bringing her joy was her ballet, but even that came with strings attached. Until she met Nate at a party. A Champion Motocross rider, Nate lives on the highs of speed and thrills. He gets off on sucking the marrow out of life and he blows life back into Avery.

But Nate doesn't come without strings of his own, some that are impossible to untangle. And the harder they fight their growing feelings, the deeper Avery and Nate fall into an all-consuming love that seems to have no place to go.

    *****

Ugly, ugly, ugly crying!!! Oh good lord.... not usually one to get super emotional, I BAWLED reading this book. Not kidding either. Holy flippin' batman!

Easily the best Bella Jewel book I've read!!  Whether or not you agree with some of the subject matter of this novel, there is absolutely no denying the absolute sensitivity and respect with which the topic is addressed and the high level of emotional intelligence evident in its content.

I don't want to say too much, because I really believe this is a book to be experienced. It is a story that evokes sadness, but it also brings about feelings of hope and faith. I was a rare emotional mess reading this.

Avery is almost a characterization of most women...... unknowingly self-sacrificing for the sake of family. Denying herself in favour of others......sound familiar? Not claiming anything for herself, in fact, almost feeling guilty if and when she does.

The same can be said for Nate, who carries responsibilities to the extreme, not necessarily typical of MOST men, but typical of a good man, who will at all cost protect what is his and who will fulfill his obligations to the end. Again, at whatever personal cost.

Feelings are not that 'discriminating'.....they happen and they just are....All you can do is fight them or forget them. Avery and Nate try both.....see how that works for them.

Not everything is black and white, right or wrong. There are so many grey areas we are willing to acknowledge in our own backyard but not when we look into the world around us. This novel left me feeling wonderful about a horrible situation...... go figure!!

Fantastic novel...well worth the read, and don't allow yourself to get hung up by some of the subject matter. Read with empathy!!!

    ¿A true treasure.....¿

This book was given to me in exchange for a honest review. We all come with baggage.  There are things in are past that define us and our present molds us. Avery has some serious issues she has had to face for the past 10 years of her life.  She has a missing mother, estranged father, a messed up brother and a aggressive somewhat violent boyfriend.  Nate has a marriage in trouble, a beautiful loving little girl and he is trying to do the right thing. A chance encounter at a party starts in motion a series of events and a number of choices that must be made.  Bella Jewel built a wonderful cast of characters with depth and emotion that pulls the reader into the story.  It is hard as a reader to decide what would be the best choices for the main characters.  This novel was a great read because I changed my mind several times on what I hoped would happen between the main characters.  I would love to read stories on the supporting characters as well. Great read

Bella Jewel never shies away from writing stories that will get

Bella Jewel never shies away from writing stories that will get you thinking while pushing your comfort levels and Life After Taylah definitely gave me lots to think about! I have read Bella Jewel in the past, and have enjoyed her MC Sinners series so I was curious to read a Bella Jewel story that was NOT about a bikers and about a dancer and a motocross "star".   Life After Taylah was a surprise and gave me an unexpected story that days afterward I am still struggling with how I feel about this story!

Life After Taylah was a different take on the romance/love story I typically read and while at times I was uncomfortable and wanted to stop reading, I couldn't.  Bella Jewel has a pull with her words that makes you keep turning pages to see what happens next.  I was left shocked, appalled and then hoping (no spoilers).

Avery and Nate.  I loved them together.  The chemistry and the friendship they build up was amazing to read.  My heart broke for Nate and his situation.  Avery, her poor life, while I could understand some of the choices she was making, it was hard to read about how the ripple of Taylah still continued to control her life and choices she made.   While it may be hard for some people to read this story (and I admit to curling up my nose at first) it truly was a beautiful story of finding love and learning that love doesn't always happen the way we want it to and sometimes you have to be willing to take risks.

Bella Jewel is an author I will come back to time and time again.  She doesn't sugar coat her stories, she tells life like it really is.  Her characters are REAL and have flaws.  The decisions they make are not perfect but reading about characters that are making these choices and dealing with the blowback of those choices was refreshing to read.  Bella Jewel has taken a subject that most of us turn our noses up at and refuse to read and made a lovely story about two people who fell in love when they shouldn't have and how that choice changes everything.

If you are looking for a different kind of love story and are a fan of Bella Jewel you won't be disappointed in Life After Taylah!

Really loved the story of Nate and Avery. It covers some sensitive subjects but you can feel what they're going through. Can't wait for more stories for Liam, Kelly and all.
