"Set along the lines of The Stand and The Postman, this is a chilling vision of the collapse of all society in the year 2012 and the rebirth of a nation by those who survived. It's so much more than just another fantasy series." -The Review Shop

While it could use a professional edit, it's clear from the start that this book isn't like the other apocalypse novels. You're given a real reason why the war happened and then thrown into the middle of the chaos as it self destructs. Very realistic. From there, it goes into the story, catching up with those who survived and their personal stories sucked me right in. I couldn't wait to turn the page. It was full of the stuff I'd been looking for in other books and while bits of it are hard to read due to grammar issues, I highly recommend it for anyone who worries over 2012 or the end of the world. Mrs. White's vision is chilling. Can't wait for the next book in the series to come out.

great book but if you already read Book One The Survivors Book Two On the Road and Book Three Safe Haven like I did. Thought this was a new book would be upset. Like I was. This is a combo off all three books. The above books are 0.99 each. Great Story poor editing but worth the read.

This book is poorly written and in desperate need of editing. The story line is unfocused and becomes very repetitive, and some of the events are implausible even for a fantasy novel. That said, the author has some native talent as a storyteller, but needs to take the time to hone and develop her craft  before she is ready for publication.

I never write a bad review, but after paying decent money for this, I feel I bought the right to do so. The sentence structure was so bad that it was often incomprehensible. The writer does not know how to use contractions or make plurals. The story was not suspenseful. It was a confusing mismash of thought processes of the real/majical characters with a little action thrown in. Boy was I suckered in on this one.

Literally gushing with estrogen, wild assumptions, racism, sexism, and utter lack of research, this work is most probably the results of too many hits on the bong before tapping on the keyboard.. This is a brutal review and this novel screams LACK OF RESEARCH. It's all about "relationships", Mexicans are marauding child rapists, men enslave and buy and sell women and children and like with the book I just cannot go on, NOTE: When NORAD gets bombed a minimum of five 5-megaton thermonuclear devices will be used. The 200-ton blast doors (multiple) can only be opened from the inside by pairs of people using separate keypad codes and not by a janitor feeling sorry for people outside crying for help in the 3,000,000 degree fireball. Russia uses MIRV warheads now like the USA, placing a ring of six 200 KT detonations around a target like cities and refineries. Banish the bong when writing author. It's obvious you love pot but it shows when you write. The 700+ pages was an utter waste of my money.

This very well imagined series twists together magic and a post-apocalypse with many creative ideas. Unfortunately, these and even the later stories with their supposedly improved and professional editing need better copy editing and continuity editing. In a "cage fight" sequence, for example, three men are named as defenders and two paragraphs later there are four. There are also many implausibilities, such as an unlimited supply of cigarettes still six months after the bombs fall. Still, I persisted because the stories, despite awkward transitions and all, are captivating and multi-layered. I hope a main-stream publisher picks up this series and cleans it up so that a wider audience will find more readable stories and encourage White to do more.

Poorly written...badly thought out...this author doesnt understand what an EMP is let alone what it can do. I wont even get into the poor grammar, total lack of competent editing and labored character interactions. The very premise of this story is so flawed that it makes the book unreadable.

There are some editing issues, and sometimes I had trouble following. Overall, it is a really good series.

I loved these books. Instantly addicted and in love with the characters. I have now read all seven books and am anxiously awaiting book eight.

The story of life after the "big war" is very interesting. For once here is a story that might 1 day unfortunitly happen. No zombies, just actual people trying to survive after the worlds goverments all set off nuclear bombs. Yes there is a bit of magic going on but it fits right in. If you liked Stephen King's "The Stand" then get to reading!

Forget all the technical reviews about editing. If you just want a well thought out, good story, worth the time.

I have never written a review before, but I cant believe I plodded thru all but about 75 pages of this garbage...not to mention, having to reread a lot of it because you couldnt figure out who was saying what. This story could have been told in 150 never went anywhere. Of course, there was no ending...I guess you need to buy more books. I am glad it was free...and I will not be buying any books.

Weird characters and too much profanity! One character was demon possessed. Got halfway thru the first book and couldnt do anymore. Not my cup o tea. So many characters got confusing. The character intro at the end of the book was helpful but i still got confused trying to remember who was who.

Love the story. Very believable characters and plot. Was hard to put down, and my housework suffered. I have just purchased the 4th book and am looking forward to the entire series.
