After re-committing my life to Christ, I kept telling myself I need to read the bible more. Now I feel like I can read it and understand it. The notes and maps make it feel like you have a tutor with you. I'm buying another one for my sister. It makes a wonderful gift.

Of course, the greatest book ever written is awesome - in and of itself - written in the thought-for-thought version of NLT, makes it even easier. Having a KJV, and the NIV versions (although great to have) this version helps to understand what is written without getting over basic. The notes for specific passages below the actual scriptures further adds understanding and application advice. A LOT of churches have and use the NIV or KJV and although beautiful to read, they are sometimes hard to decipher. I also enjoyed the software that comes with this bible. Simply put - if you are new or old to reading the bible, this version will offer yet another dimension for you in your bible studies for understanding the scriptures. I spent many, many hours at christian book stores searching for the right version for me to use in my new walk with the Lord and I am very happy that I chose this version. I certainly do believe that God knew this version would help me (personally) the most. Maybe you need that nudge too. I also believe that recently being baptized has helped to open the scriptures for understanding. Give this one a look. Comparing to NIV and KJV it's great and a bit easier to understand (didn't I say that already!?). For additional information, I have a college reading and writing level. I read a lot! The NIV requires a 7th grade level, the KJV requires a 12th grade level (!!Holy Cow!!) and this version requires a 6th grade level. The NIV and KJV are what they call word-for-word translations, and this version is a thought-for-thought translation. Don't be alarmed. There is nothing added or taken away from original scrolls, it is just written as if you are reading a book - in modern-day language. Compare it to your old KJV (everybody has one). You'll see that it is similar, but easier. God wants you to understand his word. THIS BOOK HELPS!! (More than some will ever know)The software adds some excitement and historical information although it is in a very limited form. The upgrade is minimal compared to out-right purchase of said software. I hope this review helps save you from the hours I spent looking and searching. Granted I did go to the Christian Book Stores (to look), as a member at B&N it would be silly not to buy from them - hard cover discount + member discount + regular e-mailed discount = lots of savings.

This Bible is highly anointed! Jesus speaks through his word. I buy this study bible as gifts for everybody. I absolutely love the prophets who translated from the King James Version. I pray they translate the word into every language so that the world can receive Jesus Word in this way. In Jesus Name Amen!

This is one of the best study Bibles ever printed. The print is large enough for seniors to read. The Bible has wonderful study notes and references. It makes a great gift! Highly recommend this Bible to all ages.

I bought this Bible after years of reading NASB, NKJV and NIV translations. There are times when I'd like a more contemporary translation that applies the word directly to my life. The Life Applications series does just that. The NLT translation is very easy to understand and offers practical applications. Thumb indexing makes it a great companion when finding references quick is necessary.

I enjoy reading this Bible. Unlike some of the other translations, this translation is not cumbersome and is very easty to understand. At this stage of my journey, this is critical for me. The explanations they provide about the scripture are extremly helpful and practically apply the Word to everyday life. This Bible also includes a timeline, which is helpful. It also has mini-bios for each of the historical people discussed in the chapter. One drawback is that the type is very small, which is a bit annoying if I don't have my glasses. Also, the pages are very thin and are susceptible to tearing if not careful. Other than that, I know that I made the right choice in selecting this study Bible and I would highly recommend it for anyone wanting to read and study the Word.

I'm disappointed that the thick back pages, that include the maps, started falling out in relatively short time. The bible is easy to read and has nice features.
