Overview

He felt around in the icebox, and she traced the twist and turn of his trim waist, the lift of his muscled arms, desire spiraling in her gut. Age had improved him and that made seeing him much harder.

-----

When Michael O'Fallen walked out of Amber's life, things around her fell apart. Tired of living the way she has, there is nowhere else to run--but back into his arms. Yet he has a wife and a child he adores. How does she fit in? And what about her hidden pregnancy?

Rev. Patrick Finnegan spends his days and nights caring for his niece. Finally having his father's notebook translated from Gaelic to English is fulfilling and takes his mind away from his troubles. He's found good friends in the O'Fallens, and his life is looking up.

The entrance of beautiful Amber Dawes into their unusual household shakes things up from the start. She's lived a hard life, one full of painful secrets. Secrets that, as his feelings for her grow, threaten to destroy their future for good. Unless they lay their lives at God's feet and look to heaven for deliverance.

I was so thrilled beyond words to be able to come back and revisit the wonderful characters from the Florida Irish series! It felt like coming back home. Watching the story of Michael and Anne continue to unfold was such a beautiful thing to behold – like a new bud just starting to open at the first signs of spring. However, it was the newest characters that really caught my eye and held my attention. We are now privileged to get to know two people who have played such a pivotal role in Michael’s life – Patrick and Amber. God’s big picture is expanding just a little more and the image is sharpening as the days and years go by. Despite whatever we think, God is never done working in and through us. Patrick Finnigan has become a close friend to Michael and Anne over the past years, and he cherishes their friendship and Michael’s work on translating his late father’s manuscript. In his heart something is missing. He thinks that missing piece will be found in Michael’s work for him, but he quickly finds out just how wrong he is. Someone from Michael’s past walks back into his life with just as much flare and flamboyance as always. Amber has come in search of Michael thinking that he can save her from the mess she has made of her life, but in her carelessness, she could cost him everything. Patrick sees such beauty and value when he looks at Amber, and in that moment he realizes that his heart is trying to tell him something. Unknown and confusing feelings begin to plague Patrick, and he knows he must decide which pursuit means the most to him – hoping to discover something that might not even exist or pursuing Amber’s heart. While life tends to be more messy and less cookie cutter perfect then we would prefer, we always need to remember that our hope, our life, and our love ultimately needs to reside with God. If we don’t have Him at the center, it will all eventually fall apart. However, if you embrace and surrender to Him, even if your life appears to be falling apart, all of the pieces are really just falling together. It can take years or months or just a few days, but nothing can stop His plan from taking shape and blossoming before your eyes. We can slow God down through disobedience and sin, but truly God will work His plan out around you until you finally fall to your knees and acknowledge that He has always and will always be in control. Suzanne D. Williams continues to astound me at her depth of heart and the masterful level of her writing. She draws you in and then paints a breathtaking masterpiece all around you. While your eyes are focused on one area of the story, she swoops in and surprises you with a twist and turn that you never saw coming. Not only does it broaden and liven up the storyline, but you will find that it adds another layer of richness that you never saw coming. This story has filled my heart to overflowing with the love, patience, and peace of a God who not only meticulously created us but wants to give us only the best if we will only wait on His timing. Despite what the world tells us, giving our hearts and our will completely to the Creator of the Universe will not only lighten our burden, but He will pour out His numerous and fathomless blessings upon us in wave after wave of intense love, unconditional grace, and incomprehensible joy.
