Life Entrepreneurs

Ordinary people creating extraordinary lives. Leaders excelling through the power of entrepreneurship. Rising generations taking command of their lives and work by integrating them. But how?

Life Entrepreneurs is an uplifting and practical guide for enriching our quality of life and revving up our work through the dynamic force of entrepreneurial leadership.

A new type of leader is emerging: people who apply their vision, talents, creativity, and energy not only to their work but to their entire lives, changing the world for themselves and those around them. These people are not just living their lives—they're leading them. Welcome to the territory of life entrepreneurs.

In this book, successful entrepreneurs Christopher Gergen and Gregg Vanourek draw on interviews with fifty-five leading entrepreneurs worldwide as well as on the wisdom of multiple thought leaders to provide practical strategies, concrete frameworks, vivid examples, and moving vignettes for leading a life of adventure, service, and purpose.

Today, people are looking for opportunity, challenge, and the chance to develop their talents, achieve success, and make an impact. But they are also looking for a rich home life, rewarding friendships, an active lifestyle, and deeper fulfillment. Life entrepreneurs are able to thrive in all these realms by proactively taking the following steps:

  • Discovering core identity
  • Awakening to opportunity
  • Envisioning the future
  • Developing goals and strategies
  • Building healthy support systems
  • Taking action and making a difference
  • Embracing renewal and reinvention

Life Entrepreneurs is filled with inspiring stories and practical strategies for integrating life, work, and purpose, and captures the implications of today's entrepreneurial boom for our workplaces, learning institutions, communities, and families. Whether you're an emerging or established leader—or a person experiencing significant changes and seeking direction—this is a vital read.

Bondage of the Mind is a strong, original, and very readable book that addresses an important topic in a clear and convincing manner - and it could not be more timely. It is not only for a Jewish audience or a liberal audience. I, myself, am a conservative columnist and former editor of a Catholic magazine, and I found the book captivating. Bondage of the Mind provocatively confronts issues of interest to everyone.
Christopher Hitchens
R.D. Gold is a fresh new voice, a witty and mordant guide through the moral and intellectual chaos of the tribalism and special pleading that is Orthodox Judaism - and, by extension, all religious fundamentalism. I enjoyed this book immensely. You will, too.
Michael Shermer
Bondage of the Mind is a must-read for anyone who cares about the future of humanity. (Michael Shermer, publisher of Skeptic magazine, author of How We Believe)
Jacob Neusner
Bondage of the Mind is a very important book - indeed, the most important book of its kind in the last hundred years. (Jacob Neusner, one of the world's leading Jewish scholars and theologians)

It provided me with guidance. It will do the same for you.

When you are young everyone tells you that you can become whoever you want, but after a few short years that ideology seems to become nothing but a myth. This book not only proves that your dreams to change the world are possible it illustrates that they can be a reality. Are you ready to make your life extraordinary? As someone who is looking for a change in my life, Life Entrepreneurs is helping me strive above the status quo by inspiring me to look deeper for my true passions. I know that my dreams will not sit in a box waiting for a better time to be realized. Gregen and Vanourek's work proves that you wont find happiness by settling for something that is not your true passion. It is high time to realize that being successful does not provide you fulfillment in the same way or to the same level as doing something you love. I know that I am grateful to Gregen and Vanourek for their inspiration, influence, and guidance. Thank you for Life Entrepreneurs. This book will inspire you to make this world a better place by following your heart and living your passions. Buy This Book!

    A reviewer

Life Entrepreneurs is a powerful book. I was fortunate to encounter this book at a turning point in my life, and it's with complete sincerity I attest that this book changed the course of my life: Gergen and Vanourek's work inspired me to follow my dreams after graduating from college and travel abroad for a year, rather than giving in to the societal pressure to get a job and take the typical post-grad path. I am eternally grateful to the authors and this book for the positive influence it's made in my life. This book will inspire you to be your own person and write YOUR story -- not someone else's.
