I have to admit that I had expectations when I started reading

I have to admit that I had expectations when I started reading this book. The first one had sucked me in so completely and everything moved along so well and quickly that I literally flew through the pages. So I expected the same with Life Eternal. I was a tiny bit disappointed only because, for me, this book started out a lot slower than the first, and it took a long time to build. The writing was as beautiful to me as in Dead Beautiful, the first book, but it just seemed that the pacing was just a tad slow for me. I felt like things could have been sped up a little bit.

Secondly, it was a big disappointment that Dante wasn't more visible in this book just to keep the romance factor going for me. Romance in a story is an important part for me to fully enjoy it. Yes, I'm a sap. So really, by the time Noah was introduced, I was almost relieved. Although I am growing a little weary of having a second love interest introduced in series books, he was such a great character, and was introduced at a really good time when I needed something to kind of boost things along for me. So it worked great.

I was super shocked by the ending, only because it is going to be such an agonizing wait to find out what happens next in this story. OMG!!

Overall, Yvonn Woon is a talented author, has a great story here, and I was pleased with this sequel. It definitely all came together toward the last third of the book!!

Hello my fellow friends

I very much ENJOYED this book. I was very stricken when the previous book ended, so i was enthralled when i found out that this book had finally been published, i read it in one day! I would read this book again and again and again if only i had the time :( i actually have to go to school,so thank you for reading this review!!!!!!! Read the dead beautiful series!!!!

Great book!

This is another book that I have been dying to read. After reading Dead Beautiful and falling in love with the writing, I knew without a doubt I had to read this book.

Life Eternal picks off where it left off. Renee is back at home dealing with the after math of what happen between her and Dante. This book starts off slow. The author presents in the writing a little of what happen in the last book so if readers were to pick it up, they would understand it some. Though it doesn't loose any of it's creativity. Instead, more questions are raised and the real part of the book begins.

The best part of the book, started more in the middle. There, the reader is following along a trail of past secrets, riddles, and the truth to everlasting life. I really enjoyed this part cause it gave me some adventure. Instead of research and drama, the reader can get more connected in searching for the Nine sisters and the meaning behind it.

The love interest in the book sort of got me angry. Given the fact that I knew where Renee stood, it really grinded my gears when she forgot who she was. She got so caught up with looking for answers that at one point she forgot about Dante and started to see him differently. I loved that the author let the emotions flow so freely within the book. Even though I was angry at Renee, I knew who she was.

Life Eternal, is a rewarding epic that it would make viewers feel that they're in the story as well. I could do nothing but read faster with each page turn. And the ending, left me wanting more.

Second in the series....

I was really looking forward to reading this book--the end of Dead Beautiful really got to me--but I have to say for much of the sequel I felt fairly frustrated. Some time has passed since the ending of book one, though we haven't missed much...Renee isn't quite what she used to be: she looks different, not just older but more surreal, as if parts of her face have shifted and changed; her senses are all dulled; she doesn't sleep well; and eating has lost most of its appeal. Pretty much everything has lost its appeal, actually. She hasn't seen Dante since he kissed her in the field, and she hasn't found anything since that day to bring her out of the heavy fog that her life has become. The only things that seem to inspire her to anything other than apathy are postcards from her Undead friend Eleanor (which contain coded messages from Dante) and mysterious dreams which may or may not be real--are they premonitions? memories? actually happening live as she sleeps? Renee isn't sure.

Then she recieves the bad news that someone who she knew and liked at Gottfried Academy has died, and died in a way that is frighteningly close to what had happened in Renee's latest dream. Gottfried is shut down so Renee is forced to continue her Monitor education at the next closest school, in Montreal. There she makes two new friends and one enemy and discovers the mystery of the Nine Sisters--a mystery that, if she can solve it, just might be Renee and Dante's salvation.

The new characters at Lycee St. Clement really help to add to the reader's understanding of the Monitor and Undead universe, and there is a lot of history given while Renee is at the school that helps to explain it as well. The mystery at times was intriguing, at times confusing...toward the end, though, that part of the plot really got rolling and I was really pulled into the story...and then bam! It was over. The last few pages are nonstop drama and action and then--done. I knew it was close to the end according to the page count, but I still had to go back and reread the last page (twice) because I just couldn't believe that that was it. It felt very get-the-band-aid-ripped-off-fast when the whole rest of the novel had been easing the strip off a half of a millimeter at a time. Just a teensy bit abrupt.

The part of the novel that most frustrated me, though, was Renee herself. She spends way too much time wandering around alone, whispering into the wind all the words she wants to say to Dante, and finding mysterious messages from him all over the city. (Her ability to immediately recognize these rather unobtrusive notes stretched the boundaries of credibility.) Life Eternal was a bit too heavy on the teenage angst, too light on the let's-solve-this-problem plot. It reminded me a lot of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as both books spent way too much time on the main character's feeling sorry for themselves when they just needed a good smack in the head and a brisk "Get over it!" to snap them back into being a rational human being. It just felt like much of the middle of the novel really didn't accomplish much beyond that. The plot was actually moving along in there, but Renee's extreme melodrama tended to overshadow it.

The last chapter of the novel did much towards making me look forward eagerly to book three in the trilogy. Until that point, though, reading the second book felt more like treading water.

I wonder if there is going to be another book after this one???

A little slow but worth it

The first dozen or so chapters were super slow but it picked up when the characters were developed and the pot got rolling.

Loved it!!

I was so sad when book one ended because the story was still so incomplete. Not a bad incomplete, but the kind that leave you anxious to see what comes next. The story, in truth, could have left off there leaving what came next all up to the reader's individual imagination. However, the author didn't do that to us, she brought us a sequel. And it was well worth the wait! This YA romance is full of mystery, and unfolds beautifully. Again, though, the story is left open for another, possible final, installment. I can NOT wait!

Romantic and Amazing

I love how Life Eternal picks right up after Dead Beautiful, so you see what has happened with Renee after Dante kisses her and everything changes for her. She did not just reanimate after her soul was taken, she is sort of human again, but with a lot of changes. She cant smell things anymore, and her dreams(or nightmares) are not hers, but from Dante. She is forced to change schools because Gottfried is closing and the school is moved to Montreal at Lycee St. Clement. I thought it was kinda creepy that Dante was almost ghost like, able to swirl around on the wind and appear. But the love that you see between them was just so nice and sweet. Noah is a nice addition to the characters, even though hes dating Clementine, a typical Mean Girl at Lycee St. Clement. He really seems to have a crush on Renee, but in her heart and mind, shes spoken for by Dante, even though he is an Undead and wanted by all the Monitors to be buried. This book has a lot more mystery and you become more and more involved in the hunt for the Nine Sisters and all the clues and riddles left for them. I have to say my heart was racing towards the end and I totally was shocked at what happened with Noah(totally didn't see that happening). The ending is very quick, but without the next book on the table, it still leaves you wondering.
I really liked both books in the series, and both books are on my recommend list.

Loved this book but i was kind of bummed that the next book..

Loved this book but i was kind of bumed that the next book hasn't come out yet. After reading the 1st book i couldn't wait until this book came out but i have to admit that this book kind of cunfused me. I didn't realy like that the undead are kind of like demons and that the little kids were trying to kill Renn¿e, i mean realy why little kids? I would like it alot more if instead of little kids they were grown men or sumthing like that. If yvonne wrights another book i will most likely read it and post again. TTYL!!! :D

Beware the end!

It did start a little slow, but started to pick up the pace about one fourth through the book. If you dont like cliff hangers when you have to wait for the next book, I suggest to wait until the next book comes out. Happy reading!

So I loved the first book. I am thinking about buying the second

So I loved the first book. I am thinking about buying the second...but after reading the reviews I am a bit skeptical. An does the seond book end with a cliff hanger....like will I have to wait for a third book? I am an impatient reader and don't like to have to wait for the next book in a series.

New Spin on an old concept

I absolutley loved the first book and could not wait to read this one.

I feel this book is the typical book 2 of any romantic fantasy book. The lovers are seperated and a new member comes in to make it a triangle. Yes it's been done many times before. However, Yvonne Woon, I feel, puts a new spin on the old concept by how things end up playing out in the end. I wont give spoilers, but I was kind of surprised at the fates of the characters.

There were so much new info and I was a bit confused for a little while but it all ties together in the end. But then we are left hanging until book 3...sigh!

Well written highly romantic

This book is very well written and thoughtful, Ivonne Woon successfully captured the emotion of each character. I'm in love with Dante and Renee love story, this book made me laugh, cry, swoon, broke my heart. As I'm reading, I questioned some of Renee's and Dante's choices, why they do what they're doing and not doing but found myself understanding and unable to despise anything or anyone from the book. I felt Renee's numbness being apart from Dante. Their first meeting after a long separation was perfect, it made me cry cause I was so happy (probably what renee is feeling to see Dante again). It broke my heart when Renee distrusted and rejected Dante, and his acceptance and loving understanding to give her the space she wanted, but still letting her know that he's always there for her, nearby. If you want a love story and actions, I highly recommend this book. I wish I have a Dante of my own.
