Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Snakes slither through the tall grass. Tree frogs hop from branch to leaf. Apes swing from tree to tree. All this happens while a rainstorm is brewing overhead. This is what a rain forest is like. This book, one of the "Living in a Biome" series, takes readers into the depths of a rainforest to discover what life exists there. The book is broken up into short chapters and each spread covers a different topic. The text is easy to read and, in a reversal of the typical structure, serves to highlight the pictures, which are stunning. The book has a table of contents, glossary, index and its own web page called facthound.com. This book would enliven a class studying biomes, and would spark the interest of a child reading on his or her own. It is an excellent resource. 2004, Capstone Press, Ages 5 to 7.
