Life Is a Road, the Soul Is a Motorcycle

( 13 )

Overview

"I was on a lonely stretch of road. There were no lights other than the moon and stars, and I had not encountered any traffic in at least 10 minutes. Far ahead of me a figure stepped out of the brush and stood on the shoulder of the road. The figure was still far out of my headlight range, but was visible as a stunning and marvelous silhouette in the bright moonlight."

    What is this book?

This book speaks to the adventure of the journey - to the wonder to be found 'out there' - to the true magic that can happen in the moment. The author writes with humor and 'off beat' observations about what he experiences while on the road. The book (and it's sequels) are highly entertaining and somewhat informative, even for those of us who have been there. If your looking for a 'how to' book on motorcycling this book is not for you. Pick up a copy of 'Zen and the art of Motorcycle repair' if that is what your looking for. If you want to get a glimmer of the human side of motorcycling this book is for you.

    A great read!

Never mind that I haven¿t been on the back of a motorcycle in over thirty years, I greatly enjoyed Daniel Meyer¿s ¿Life is a Road, the Soul is a Motorcycle.¿ He has a keen eye for detail and a great talent for keeping the reader engrossed in his delightfully rendered stories. Do you like travel and adventure? Do you enjoy passion? Do you like to laugh out loud? You¿ll find all that and more within these pages. Not only is Dan an excellent prose writer, you¿ll find some amazing poetry to ponder over, as well. What I like most about his writing is that it comes across strong and clear that Dan knows that life is for living, and he does it well. I highly recommend it.

    another motorcycle book

If you have any inclination to write a book about motorcycling go ahead. This book proves someone will publish it no matter how bad it is. The content is maddeningly repetitve and dull. A dull book about motorcycle touring, that takes some doing. The poetry in the final chapters is torture, read it aloud and you'll burst out laughing it is so bad. Don't waste your money like I did.

    Let's Ride

I love the way the stories are written in this book, the stories are easy to read, and to become a part of. If you ride, you can't read this book without wanting to go have more adventures of your own. Would highly recomend it to anyone that rides, or is thinking about riding.

    Gotta Have if you Ride

This book is written so those that haven't ridden get a true feeling for it, and for those that have can see the events happening to them. We've all been somewhere down these paths. Maybe not as far but sure enough close to it.

It makes you proud to be a motorcyclist!

Daniel shares a unique perspective on motorcyling and what it truly means to be a person true to himself. Enjoyable from begining to end.

    Now I ride

I never had any interest in owning or riding a motorcycle until I read Danny Meyer's book Life Is A Road, The Soul Is A Motorcycle. Now I have my first bike and I'm learning to ride..... Is it too much to say that this book changed my life?

If I have to explain it you wouldn't understand

Daniel does an excellant job of just that. Explaining somewhat of the mystery that motorcycle riders know, and non riders are trying to figure out. Just why we ride? Along the way we get a glimpse from the saddle perspective. and many laugh out loud belly busters as well. This book was well written and absolutly no profanity. The only drawback is you don't want the ride to stop. Regards, Danny Jones (Chicago area)

    Total enjoyment

I thoroughly enjoyed the imagery and humor in this book. The descriptions of the scenery had me in awe and the humorous way some of the tales is great. Anyone who likes to read for enjoyment I think would enjoy this book.
