Overview

Barry Munday is a thirty-three-year-old man of singular purpose — and that purpose is trying to bed women. One day, a too-good-to-be-true sexual encounter at a matinée with a beautiful teenage girl ends when her angry father catches them in flagrante delicto and attacks Barry with a trumpet. Barry wakes up in a hospital and discovers his much-beloved gonads had to be surgically removed. Taking stock of his life, Barry realizes that his hair is thinning, he doesn’t understand his own job, he doesn’t like his only friend, and he will never be a father. Then a miracle happens, a walking, breathing, modern-day miracle. Barry is saved from a life of emptiness by a bizarre twist of testicular fate: He is sued for paternity by an unattractive woman he can’t remember sleeping with. Barry is elated at the second chance at fatherhood. Now if he can just avoid his crazy ex-girlfriend, her rabid dog, a mob of angry gay midgets, and his mother until the baby is born...

What a great read. This book is a wonderful view into the thoughts of man which are never discussed in public. This was a very funny book. It helped to lighten the load of life at the end of the day. Hollon tells a wonderful story with real life humor.

¿Life Is a Strange Place¿, Is an extremely funny book. I can¿t remember ever reading a book that was funnier. The title and cover is what first caught my attention. On the cover was a picture of what appeared to be cow testicles. How Strange?! Then once I started reading the book and looked at the cover again I realized that it was actually a picture of a dog. I thought... I never have seen huge testicles like that on a dog before! I t doesn¿t seem right¿ what a bizarre thing to put on a book cover? That set the tone of the book and it only got better. In the beginning the main character Barry is a pitiful fellow that most men could relate too in their own quest for unmeaning casual sex. Barry a knucklehead with the worst luck becomes a man [without balls (literally)] with the birth of his daughter. He became a soft hearted, loving, caring man... a good man with purpose and priorities. This book is also about families, most all people whether they want to admit it or not feel like they come from a crazy or strange family and that is what makes this book believable during the hilarious chain of events depicted in the book. ¿Life Is a Strange Place¿ will make you reminisce about your own life and make you laugh at yourself. I read the book in one sitting woke up the next morning and had sore ribs from laughing so much. This story proves you don¿t have to have testicles to be a man. Has an individual, embarrassing things happen in a person¿s life that just can¿t be explained unless you are Frank Turner Hollon the mastermind of this insanely funny story.
