Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Based on the premise that one needs to improve one's outlook on life rather than one's situation, counselor Breslin and life coach Murphy enthusiastically ask women what they want to be and tell them how to get there. Writing in a hip, breezy style, the authors provide practical exercises and narratives that help readers replace destructive patterns with new behaviors in the areas of career, health, finances, romance, goals, and self-discovery. What's particularly appealing about this book is that the authors refrain from inducing guilt and instead model positive, can-do thinking-it's contagious. Recommended for all public libraries. Psychologist Jeffers (Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway) aims to inspire women to improve their lives by capturing the power within and learning from the little, everyday moments. Her latest book compiles 50 articles that she has written over the past ten years, which cover many aspects of life, e.g., relationships, raising children, 9/11, and competition. Jeffers tends to speak in superlatives and relates a story of looking deeply into the mundane chore of food shopping and crying in the aisle when she realized the miracle of absolute, mind-boggling abundance. While her message of living a life of appreciation is well taken, her continual references to her own experiences are tiring. Not recommended. Copyright 2005 Reed Business Information.
