A devout Christian, Dickens began writing Christmas tales in The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Cluband by the 1840s he had written a slew of novellas known collectively as the Christmas Books.

Throughout all of his work, one gets a sense of the struggles he faced growing up in a humble household. His masterpieces, Oliver Twist, Great Expectations, and A Tale of Two Cities, exemplify his magnificent talent and his understanding of the human condition.
