A well written trib ute to a true man of principle and integrity. The only drawback was that it did not include the maps, so make sure you buy the correct version.

For some time I have been studying and reading American history and when I came to the Civil War I read about two great confederate generals, Stone Wall Jackson and Robert E. Lee. John Esten Cooke did a fantastic job in giving details in the life and leadership of General Lee. Our nation could do with his kind of leadership today. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the life or General Robert E. Lee.

Everyone should read books about our great American heroes. Lee's life circumstances and loyalty is better understood after reading this book.

Approached as a leadership manual and not so much the Civil War, this should be a must read for anybody in leadership. Gen. Lee was one of the greatest leaders of men of our country, maybe of all time. It shows how core values and principles can take you so much farther than brute power. It is too bad that his leadership could not be incorporated in the national rebuilding after the war. Although, he was very active in his beloved Virginia, rebuilding and mentoring new leaders for the country. If you are a leader or aspire to be, take the time to read this book.
