Library Journal
Eighteen-year-old Lindsay Bedford has spent the last four years living with her aunt Rebecca in Bird-in-Hand, PA, but now she must decide whether to stay in the Amish community she has come to love or return to Virginia and her sister. An extended visit home renews Lindsay's family ties, but her friends back in Pennsylvania expect her to be baptized with them into the Amish faith. Adding to her worries is her aunt's failing health. VERDICT Series fans will enjoy this fourth contemporary Amish entry (after A Place of Peace) with its sense of place, well-drawn characters, and uplifting story. It should also earn Clipston new admirers among fans of Mary Ellis and Marta Perry.

Lindsay Bedford was 18 now, and had lived with her Aunt Rebecca and Uncle Daniel for four years since her parents had died, and left her and her sister Jessica in her Aunt's care. She was growing up, and was very troubled about her future, she knew she was very comfortable with her Amish family, but a few doubts about taking the classes for baptism linger in her mind. An accident with her Aunt Trish, close friends of her parents back in Virginia, takes Lindsay back to Virginia to help take care of Trish, during her recuperation from breaking her leg and having surgery. Her sister Jessica is not helping matters by nagging at her about getting her GED, and then going to college. In fact it seems every conversation ends with Jessica insulting Lindsay. She is not helping Lindsay at all. Being in Virginia and reconnecting with old friends is fun, but her heart is back in Pennsylvania with her Amish friends and family. She cannot wait to get home to them all. I love Amy Clipston's books. I have been reading them since she started with book one of this series and I absolutely love them. She keeps the story interesting, and also touches your heart strings with the stories. Truly a great author, who I look forward to reading. 336 pages US$ 12.99 5 stars. This is the 4th book in the Kauffman Amish Bakery Series. Lindsay is first introduced in Clipston's first book in this series, A Gift of Grace, when Lindsay and her sister, Jessica, go to live with their Amish Aunt Rebecca after a tragic car accident takes the lives of their parents. Throughout this series, I have been able to watch Lindsay grow up and mature. Even though Jessica decided that she did not want to remain in the Amish community, Lindsay embraced the community and lifestyle. She was able to find love and joy in her new life. In this book, the reader experiences Lindsay's struggles with her decision to be Baptized into the Amish church. In her heart, she knows the answer, but with the pressure of her sister, she begins to doubt herself. This is a wonderful addition to the Kauffman Bakery series. I look forward to the final installment in June.

A Life of Joy Amy Clipston Book Summary: Take a trip to Bird-in-Hand, Pennsylvania, where you'll meet the women of the Kauffman Amish Bakery in Lancaster County. Review: I loved the characters in this book. The story line was believable and engrossing with characters you would root for and care about. The book was the fourth in a series and had many reoccurring characters and a continuous storyline of faith and family. I have not read all of the other books aside from one novella for the holidays I found it was easy to ease into the characters and relationships that were explained and never overdone. The book was easy to read and enjoyable throughout the story. The only problem I had was that the end seemed abrupt and with more questions than answers. I realize that this is a book in a series, however many resolve the main theme in the current book. This ending would not deter me from reading more books by this author. I would like to thank Net Galley and Zondervan Publishing for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.

I love how the author describes the struggles that the youth of the Amish community face in the main character. It would be incredibly hard growing up in the Englischer world; live the Amish lifestyle for 4 years; then return to the modern conveniences and not have temptations. A very good read indeed!

I enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed the other three and wish that there was another book following the 4th one. The Amish lifestyle is interesting to me, even though it is not one I would want to live.

"A LIFE OF JOY" is a absolutely must read, all of Amy's books are wonderful, but I think she has really out done herself in this one, I had a hard time putting this book down once I started it, you will be hooked on the very first page, and when you get to the end you will not want it to end, you will love all of the Bible passages and the Prayers, Amy is a wonderful Christian Author, You will feel like you are a family member of the Kauffmans, I really can hardly wait for the next book
