Meet the Author

William Giles Harding Carter (1851-1925) helped to modernize the United States Army in the early twentieth century. Awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his bravery during the Indian Wars, he also fought in the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, and World War I. His writings include From Yorktown to Santiago with the 6th Cavalry (1900) and Old Army Sketches (1906).
