Fragments, Book 1

Until a fall ended his Olympic diving career, John Andrews lived for the seconds he spent in the air. Now he’s adrift on a college campus, grounded by paralyzing vertigo and double vision. Worse, he sees shimmering colors over everyone’s heads.

The last is hardest to ignore, and impossible when it comes to Mason. While sex with the hot, moody computer major gives John a rush as heady as diving, Mason’s the only person John’s ever seen surrounded by two distinct colors.

Mason feels like a stranger in his own life. His lover is dead, and he drowns his guilt in bourbon and sex—until John’s innocence reawakens the man he used to be. After Mason gives the young virgin a proper introduction to sex, he plans to send him on his way. But John sees too much to make things that easy.

For John, their connection is more than just sizzling sex, it’s something worth fighting for. The more he learns about the colors, though, the more he realizes the free-spirited Mason isn’t free at all. John doesn’t take second place to anyone—even the dead.

Warning: Anyone wishing to read this title should be an adult, free from any condition that might be aggravated by the presence of a not-too-scary haunting, sizzling sexual chemistry, and angsty young men having mildly kinky sex. Other restrictions may apply. No additional equipment needed—unless you like that sort of thing.

    Different, but good

Like all her other stories, this was romance. There was a bit of a twist with the auras and a ghost tossed in, but it wasn't too far out there to not be enjoyable. At times it was so heartbreaking, trying to imagine what it would feel like to lose someone you loved so much and how hard it would be to try to move on, especially if you blamed yourself.

There were times that Mason was such a complete jerk that I couldn't believe John would bother giving him another chance, but thinking about how used he was by his last "boyfriend" made it easier to see that he didn't expect any better.

It did feel like it just ended kind of abruptly for what I like from a romance. I like to finish a book with the feeling that they will get their HEA. This was more of dead boyfriend exorcised, sorry for being a jerk, let's try dating, the end. You're not quite sure if they will work or not or if they will feel something more than a weird attraction for each other. The author could have added a few more chapters or even just an epilogue to round out the relationship to make it feel more complete. Overall, not bad. 450+ pgs.

    So So

Not a fan of the sci-fi theme. "Colors" imagery confusing and un-needed.

    more from this reviewer

    Neither good nor bad

An easy read, but no challenge, major plot twists, or much character development or growth. The sex scenes felt gratuitous: added in because she could, not because the story needed them. A good "beach" or "vacation" read.

    I Also Recommend:

    Interesting and different

Neat and sexy story with little bit of a paranormal twist! KA Mitchell did not let me down with the story. The writing was top notch as usual and the story fun. Blind boy meets sad boy story with a surprise added in. I will not spoil it. The sex scenes are hot as always but the plot prevails! I just love that about this book. I actually wanted to keep reading to know what was going to happen. To many books are all sex and no story. BORING. Not here or with other KA Mitchell books. I hope the next Fragments book comes out soon.
