I wish bn would put short stories in a category by themselves or at least let u know its a short story. This is too much to pay for a few pages. At this ridiculously short length it should have been free.

Elizabeth Kaye has written a beautiful tale. While I knew the general aspects of the Titanic, Kaye's insightful narrative zeroes in on numerous revealing specifics that I've never known. And in a way, only a written rendering can do these singular stories justice -- far more intimate than cinema. Through Kaye's deft prose, history comes alive in the most personal of ways -- through romance, through social class, through the stories of everyone from a thwarted telegraph operator to many dignified couples. Her first-rate depiction of the concrete renders the universal in glorious, tragic detail.

I agree it would be helpful if we knew titles are actually "books" or short stories. This was an interesting account of the Titanic sinking but for less than 70 pages it was not a $2 value. I would have waited and read it in the store for free

I'm a big fan of the Titanic, and with the anniversary having just passed, I've gobbling up everything Titanic. I finished titanic with Zombies and before that The company of the Dead, and saw this one on the top 100 so i thought i'd give it a try. Lifeboat 8 has a romantic feeling to it which I liked, and I thought the author did a good job nailing down the time period. I would have liked it to be longer. I wasn't sure what a kindle single meant, but I guess it's more of a short story. Regardless, there are few wasted words here, and the story moves along at a fast pace. I'd definitely recommend it to other fans of the Titanic.

Lovely

A very touching, well written short story about those survivors in Lifeboat 8...As others have also remarked, I too wish that book decriptions would include #of pages. $2.99 seems like a bit much for a 65 page book. We as reviewers need to inform others of book length until they start to include this ibn the descriptions!

A Titanic fan thru and thru, l love first hand accounts of the most famous shipwreck of all time, $2.00 for some great history is to much for some folks---are you kidding me!!! $2.00 is only a cup of coffee,, thanks for this wonderful read B & N

Perfect short story for in store read

Read in less than an hour. Great microcasim of life on life boat #8. Great way to see a small snapshot of the tragic sinking of the titanic.

not even a good chapter of a book

I believe in the phrase you get what you pay for... except as it pertains to this book. It is horrible! Not an interesting story line to be found. Save yourself the $1.99!

Interesting

This was a very insteresting account of those in Lifeboat No. 8 from Titantic. This is not usually the type of book I read but definately glad I bought it.

Quick easy read

I enjoy reading books that deal with any thing Titanic, but this one fell short for me, there was mention of the Alisons and their nanny but no mention at all to the fact that she actually saved the Allisons infant son, he lived while his parents and sister did not, also there is no mention of the ship breaking apart! I didnt feel it gave enough information about the survivors from lifeboat 8 and what life was like afterwaard! Thta was on of my main reasons for reading the book, to read about their lives after the Carparhia abd getting to NewYork,

Great story

I love reading stories about the titanic and this is no doubt one of the good ones. The reason i really liked it is because its about many peoples point of view, not just one person. This made the book more interesting and captivating, i must warn you though. This book is only 70 pages and its $2 but i thought it was worth it all the way
