Loved this book -- it is simply and straight-forward but full of terrific, easy to apply advice. Terrific in every way. I gave it to a friend who has been through tons of such books and she is delighted with this one, too, for the same reasons. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I have read many, many books on depression having suffered for most of my life, but the one I reach for when in the midst of a bad spell is this one. The author presents very practical things you can do that actually help! When I'm in a really bad space feeling the pain of depression, I can't read a big book of theory and long-term solutions; I need help now! And this little book delivers. I often forget to turn to it, though; depression has you do the exact opposite of what really helps, like isolating and ruminating in all the negative thoughts. So I have asked my partner to remind me to get out this book when he recognizes I'm depressed. (He has a whole list now of things to do- the support is wonderful). One little thing I haven't read anywhere else is the eye-movement exercise that somehow resets the pathways in the brain- very simple to do and it works! Of course there's lots of things I do to naturally beat depression such as St. John's wort, eating low-carb, avoiding caffeine as much as possible, 5- HTP, flower remedies, exercising, keeping a journal, energy healing techniques, etc.; I consider those critical to long-term mental health, but sometimes I need something right now to help, and this book delivers, like a trusty friend, when talking to someone else is the last thing I want to do.Was this review helpful?
