Overview

Aimed at young adults and high teens, this fantasy adventure follows Harold Porter, a grieving but gifted lab technician who is caught in an implosion at his university workshop and wakes up in a disused rail-yard surrounded by 12 orphaned children who think he's their saviour, the Light-Father.

He realises that he has been given a new reason to live: to save these children from the insane Order who unleashed the Revelation Virus six years ago that killed their parents and most of mankind.

In a world of perpetual rain and drowned lands where the ice-caps have long since melted, he has barely enough time to get to know these extraordinary children before the Order of Christ the Healer and their creations, the Tally-men, appear to hunt down and 'Redeem' the last survivors of those they deem 'Unworthy'.

Harold learns that the Order has an ancient enemy known as the Motherhood; a small band of Wiccans with extraordinary powers. He realises that he has no choice but to lead them, the children and the Ferals - children mutated by the virus - to take on the Order itself in their vast stronghold, the Great Abbey, where an even greater evil awaits them - the true power behind Great-Abbot Schimrian and the Revelation of the Order.

Meet the Author

Paul D.E. Mitchell (b1956) has enjoyed a varied career in chemistry, computing, teaching, lecturing, music (as a bassist in numerous bands), and served as a senior Cardiff councillor for 10 years and was elected to the Cariff ward of Fairwater in May 2012. First as a single-father and then as a carer for elderly relatives, he retired from the private sector and politics (temporarily) to concentrate on poetry and bringing to life a complex near-future sci-fi/paranormal series of nine books (set in three trilogies) and three spin-off novels as well as several other genres. Light-Father is doing extraordinarily well and may be made into a film or an anime. Paul is also publishing and editing works by others of a co-operative of independent authors based in Wales and will soon take on a micro-publisher called Wuggles Publishing.
