About the Author

I am the award-winning author of five novels set in the Old West. When people ask me what kind of books I write, my answer is, "I write books that readers can't put down", for that is the most frequent response I hear from my readers. I call the books "Tales of Strong Women", for all are built around strong, fiercely independent female protagonists, who, as one reader put it, "want men in their lives but don't need them to succeed". The books are, in order of publication: Angel of the Gold Rush, Angel's Daughter, Legacy of Angels (this is a trilogy), Light On A Distant Hill, and The Rail Queen.

Light On A Distant Hill was winner of the 2011 WILLA Literary Award for Best Softcover Fiction, sponsored by Women Writing the West.

The Rail Queen was winner of the 2015 Beverly Hills Book Award, a finalist for the 2015 National Indie Excellence Award, and a finalist for the 2015 Will Rogers Medallion Award.

In addition to my writing, I am also a manuscript line editor. I live in northern Oregon with my wife, and am currently planning my next novel.
