Overview

Following a less-celebrated and not too widely distributed debut album, New York guitar manglers Parquet Courts broke through with their 2012 sophomore album Light Up Gold and its vividly descriptive tunes that reflected on all the profound and mundane aspects of over-saturated big city life. The album was a brilliant mesh of literary lyrics, intertwining guitar melodies, and zoned-out rhythms that called to mind the best work of everyone from the Fall to Tyvek to Television. A more experimental stop-gap EP entitled Tally All the Things That You Broke arrived the next year, biding time as the band worked on a proper follow-up full length. This release collects the 15 tracks from the album as well as the five from the EP, packaging them together as a nice time capsule of the band's incipient days.
