Overview

Light Years: The Very Best of Electric Light Orchestra is an extensive double-disc, 32-track, U.K.-only collection that runs through all of ELO's biggest hits, plus several lesser-known singles and album tracks. While this is comparable to the American collection Strange Music, it isn't as lean and effective as that release, meandering just enough to sound a little bloated. Nevertheless, it's not a bad choice for the fan who wants a little more than the hits but not as much as the albums.

I was thrilled with the number of ELO hits on this 2 disc set. 38 wonderful songs that had me humming, singing and tapping my toes. The trip down "memory lane" was a great one for my husband and myself. One of the first gifts he gave me was an ELO record album. Our eleven year old daughter got caught up in the sound on a recent trip to see her brother at college. On the return trip, she was begging for us to start the CD again. The set is a comprehensive one of their greatest hits over their career span. Their's was a unique sound that is well produced from origianl soundtracks. The quality is reminiscent of the LPs of the day. I was thrilled to get it and even happier with the total quality of the product.
