I bought this book because I was looking for a new fantasy author to try out. The book started out interesting enough and seemed to have an original magic system. As the book progressed I began to lose interest. I was unable to develop a strong understanding of the author's magic system. I found the sex scene to be a little over the top. I also was not a big fan of the way religion was brought into play late in the book. It felt forced and "preachy".

I liked it. The main character is very flawed and has hidden the truth about his past and his actions. The first and second book involve how he comes to grips with his past, recognizes his flaws and is still able make decisions and act. I am eagerly awaiting the third book. In fact, I was searching to see if it have been released, yet.

The story started off well then-----got lost. A great concept and it could have been a really good story but it got lost in the middle. Too many dreams and prophecies that didn'come together and just seemed to flail around to get enough pages to be a novel. Maybe the sequel wil be better????

But then he went a little off the tracks with his imagery/prophetic dreams. Then it got...weird. The writing and characters are well developed, it was just a little too far off for me.
