Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Denise Hartzler
Lightsabers are by well-known to adults and children around the world. Associated with the Star Wars Empire and all its various characters, this book will delight readers in learning about the statistics of every lightsaber within the Star Wars films I-VI. There is a brief introduction and history of how the lightsabers were once metal blades used by the Jedi Order. There are pictures of 25 characters with their lightsaber and why it is unique to them and their famous battle. Diagrams offer statistics like size, material composition, blade color and what type of focusing crystal it contains. Key pages fold out making the lightsaber handles full size and contain action shots from the familiar films. A step-by-step guide instructs users on how to cut through obstacles, deflecting fire and combat techniques into seven basic forms. There are also guides to teach the strike zones of the body and what type of impact it has on a duel. The book ends with a summary and picture of the ultimate lightsaber dual between father and son, or Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. This action-packed book is sure to delight reluctant readers and fans of the Star Wars Empire, regardless of age. Reviewer: Denise Hartzler
