    FUN READ

I thought this was a great fun read! I do like Candace Havens. And this was just fun. I liked the characters. I found them likable and really bummed when the story ended. I like Bronwyn the witch stories. So I hope she does another with these characters continuing and building on their relationships. Plus I would like to find out about the ghosts who visit the library.

More Kira books would be great

This book is fun. I enjoyed Kira's evolution from overworked lawyer to super librarian. Kira's journey in this book leads her to the realization that she has been wasting personal time working and trying to keep up with the Jones'. While on this journey, she learns that her parents are not as inept as she thought and that she can communicate with ghosts. She inherits a terrific job/responsibility. Personally, the relationship with Caleb was too sappy for me, but it didn't deter from the story. I hope there is another and it features more of those funny and nosy ghosts.

    Cute

It seems to be an annoying trend in contemporary chicklit romances that the heroine be obsessed with designer shoes and fashion and feel compelled to describe every garment she puts on down to her underwear. It takes up page space but it does much for the story. Every time Kira gets dressed, the reader gets a full description, which I found a bit annoying. The elements in this story are pretty good but the delivery is just okay. The solution to Kira's problems, if they can be called that, is immediately obvious but it nevertheless takes her the greater part of the book to discover it. There are various elements that are good in their own right but somehow they don't quite come together as well as I would have liked. It's a bit flawed, but nevertheless a light, quick, inoffensive read.

    entertaining paranormal romance

Kira Smythe was on the fast track rising up the success ladder at her law firm, but her descent proved even faster. She was held culpable for the death of a peer and forced to leave. She returns to her hometown of Sweet, Texas as a temporary measure to rejuvenate her juices before trying to restart her law career. However, two things make her reconsider her goal to flee town as soon as possible. First she inherits the town library and second an illness left her with the uncanny ability to communicate with the dead. Of course as the ghosts lecture her on living as if they are experts, she apparently has met her soulmate who seems to reciprocate her feelings although he seems to be hiding something from her Kira thinks at least he is alive outside of her breathing dad every other male interested in her are a bit too spirited for her needs. Of course there is an unknown person she assumes is a guy who seems to want her to matchmake her with the deceased by trying to kill her. --- When it comes to charming fans with entertaining paranormal romances few writers match the consistent success of Candace Havens (see CHARMED & READY and CHARMED & DANGEROUS). Her latest triumph, LIKE A CHARM, is a delightful contemporary ghost story as Kira is tough heroine with a heart of gold and personal lists that add to understanding the heroine. Readers will appreciate the tale of the lawyer turned librarian whose suitors for the most part enable her to literally appreciate Mae West¿s comment: ¿It's not the men in my life that counts--it's the life in my men.¿ --- Harriet Klausner
