Editorial Reviews

Reader to Reader.com
Solomon has written a fast paced engrossing novel with a razor’s edge plot. Nick and Rachel are a dynamic couple whose romance sizzles.
Rendezvous
...a chilling story...Solomon knows how to keep the reader glued to the page...
Romantic Times
Dark, riveting, and emotionally dense, this is one powerful read...
The Word On Romance
...a powerful character study that allows the reader a glimpse into the very soul of a man who wants so badly to embrace his inherent good but feels that he is beyond redemption. Nick’s development as a character is a raw emotional journey into the darkness of a soul that has seen and done its share of evil.

Rachel’s character is also an interesting one. Her strength, confidence, and determination are gentled by a caring nature that is a perfect foil for the tormented Nick. Rachel’s slowly helps Nick to see his worth and the man that he has the potential to be... Ms. Solomon handles this with the skill of a veteran [and] makes an auspicious debut.
Publishers Weekly
A bad boy with a shady past and a Goody Two-Shoes with an equally sad history come together to bring down a nasty villain in Solomon's debut romantic suspense novel. Handyman Nick Raine, an orphan who was adopted by an illegal arms dealer, lives with the painful knowledge that he could have saved a boy's life during a deal gone wrong. The past catches up with Nick when his former father figure summons him to find a boy of mysterious parentage. Nick balks at returning to the life he renounced and the man he loathes, but when Rachel Goodman, a friend and previous employer, shows up beaten at his doorstep, he realizes he has no choice. An abundance of explosions and shootings keep the suspense alive, but Nick and Rachel never fully transcend the pat, familiar roles assigned to them. Readers looking for a few thrills wrapped up with an explosive conclusion will be pleased, but those seeking more substance and character development should look elsewhere. (Mar.) Disappointing book

This book was like a knife trying to get through it. It was highly predictable and slow moving. Would not recommend this book at all.

    exciting romantic suspense

As a child Rachel Goodman lost both of her parents with the strokes of a knife. She watched the vicious murder of her mother and the ¿disappearance¿ of her father into his publicly acclaimed ¿Safer America¿ movement. As an adult, Rachel manages St. Anthony preschool for children whom witnessed violence in Astoria, Queens. Six months ago, Rachel hires reticent handyman Nick Raine to make repairs at St. Anthony. Unbeknownst to Rachel is that Nick is a former gunrunner who quit the profession six years ago. Now Nick¿s former boss and mentor Spier demands he locate a six year old son he did not know he sired as his recently murdered wife hid him with her aunt from him. If Nick fails to do Spier¿s bidding or fails at his task, Rachel will suffer the wrath. LIKE A KNIFE is an exciting romantic suspense that spotlights how love can provide the opportunity for redeeming for the darkest of souls. The story line is fast-paced though how Spier¿s wife could hide the child from him so easily and why Spier wanted the kid is never quite clear. Still the audience will relish the activities of the lead couple, Rachel with her almost obsessive need to help those youngsters following the ugly path of her youth and Nick needing a soul cleaning after years of selling weapons to murderers and terrorists.
