Overview

Damien, blind from birth, is thrust into a bewildering world of vision following an eye operation. Completely at sea, he attempts to navigate this ocean of challenges and in this journey falls into an intense relationship with Natalie, a 17-year-old student who is reluctant to learn computer skills that Damien teaches. Instead, Natalie strives for recognition as a pop singer. Natalie's mother discovers the affair landing Damien in jail. Released on bail, Damien tries desperately to revive his marriage and his job prospects as his newly developed vision begins to fade into blindness once again. His wife, Moira, shattered by Damien's infidelity especially given Natalie's vulnerability much like the girls she teaches in special education, is inconsolable. In the meantime, Natalie gains an agent eager to market her songs and her availability as an actress and biographer of her life and love affair with Damien, further threatening Damien's stability. Ruefully, Damien realizes that he has crossed the milestone of being like everybody else.
