Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The title derives, of course, from the introductory theme of the ever-resilient soap opera Days of Our Lives: "Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives." As this afternoon series celebrates its 40th anniversary, few episodes in its history will be remembered as joyously as the 1976 wedding of Julie and Doug, the characters played by real-life spouses Susan Seaforth and Bill Hayes. Their make-believe nuptials became such a major media event that Time devoted a cover story to this perfect pretend couple. This double biography recounts the love story behind the Hayes's televised romance and shares backstage anecdotes about all the days of their lives.

    Good book but...

The book sounded like it was being dictated to someone who typed their candid humor. Plus it's an autobiography about two stars of Days of our lives Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes. The book in their words talks about their backgrounds in acting and before they met and their life as a married couple.

    It'll Knock Your Socks Off!

Reading ¿Like Sands Through the Hourglass¿ is like spending time with two dear, very warm-hearted friends. These two authors have an excellent command of the English language and are able to pull the reader right into their own soul with just the right word. Bill¿s background in the Golden Age of TV and Radio and on Broadway was skillfully told with a sense of awe and respect for the people who hired him. Susan¿s background in Hollywood plays, movies and television was revealed with a sense of understanding of the times and a well-honed sense of humor. The book was surprisingly candid, funny, and touchingly personal. Bill¿s and Susan¿s love for each other and for life is so apparent. Their characters, Doug and Julie, were the only reason I watched Days of Our Lives, but they have nothing on Bill and Susan! It was a sad moment when I finished the book! I believe you will love it!
