This substantial two-volume work publishes 100 papers from the September 2000 Congress in Amman which reflect recent archaeological and historical developments in Roman frontier studies. Divided into fifteen sections, the papers discuss general themes, the eastern frontier, Rome and Parthia, the Anatolian provinces and the Black Sea region, the Germanies, early Roman Germany, the Danubian and Balkan provinces, Dacia, the Spains, Britain, the Roman army, Roman fortifications, fleets and frontiers, documents and archive. Many of the papers are well-illustrated.
