This is a practical guide on linac radiosurgery. It is a concise book designed to provide step-by-step, hands-on guidance to linear accelerator (linac) radiosurgical treatment. The main purpose of this book is to guide readers through the decision-making process involved in radiosurgical treatment delivery, and provide them with practical information needed in radiosurgical practice. The authors share their 10 years of experience in this technique of linac radiosurgery. The book is mainly targeted to the group of physicians engaged in radiation oncology as well as medical physicists, and could also include radiation oncologists and neurosurgeons. The book starts and ends with the procedures involved in the daily routine at a center where radiation therapy using linac is done. The following chapters cover head ring placement, imaging, treatment planning, dose selection, and finally, radiosurgery treatment delivery. The book describes in a very simple fashion the practical how-to of a daily practice with accompanying photographs and illustrations. The book also discusses recommendations for follow-up for commonly treated abnormalities. The book concludes with the authors' experience with radiosurgery treatments of arteriovenous malformations (AVMS) as well as benign and malignant tumors in terms of both disease control and complications. The final chapter describes fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy, which applies the principles of stereotactic radiosurgery to fractionated radiotherapy, and touches on the future of stereotactically guided radiation techniques.
