This little book really struck a chord with me. Having visited the Petersen House in Washington D.C. this book brought alive that fateful night in 1865. There has been much written about what went on in that back bedroom where Lincoln lay dying but this book gives us an idea of what it was really like.... a "fly on the wall" perspective. The perspective from the point of view of the family in whose house history was made and how the experience profoundly affected them makes this book a very worthy addition to any Lincoln library. Was this review helpful? The book seems to tackle the question of what happened inside the Petersen House where Lincoln spent his last hours. Until now, it was always an unknown. It was nice to read it from a direct family member of the Petersens. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
