She's given up on him and moved on...
Susannah finally has a peaceful, calm life and a no-surprises man. Marriage to football superstar Ryan Sanderson was a whirlwind of passion, heat, energy, and excitement, but Susannah got sick of playing second fiddle to his team, watching women throwing themselves at him, and living in terror of the hard hits he took on the field. With their divorce just days from being final, she's already planning a wedding with her new fiance...
He's finally figured out what's really important to him. If only it's not too late...
Ryan has just ten days to convince his soon-to-be ex-wife to give him a second chance. He has just brought home his third championship and his career is at its pinnacle, but during the year of their separation, Ryan's come to realize it doesn't mean anything at all without Susannah...
Force's debut contemporary reads like an overly long category romance. Ryan Sanderson, three-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the Denver Mavericks, interrupts his almost-ex-wife, Susannah, while she's dining with her new fiancé, Henry, and his parents. Ryan threatens to slow the divorce proceedings, delaying Susannah and Henry's wedding, unless she allows him to woo her until their marriage legally dissolves in 10 days. Susannah capitulates, and after they finally communicate with one another about the stillbirth that destroyed their marriage, their passion reignites. When Henry reappears on the scene, however, the story falters. Henry, who has loved Susannah for years, always tried to get between her and Ryan, and she seems to have meekly tolerated it. Susannah's passivity and poor judgment reflect poorly on her, and Henry has few positive qualities. Ryan, on the other hand, is a good guy desperate to fix past mistakes, a terrific change of pace from the typical reluctant hero. (Sept.)

It's more like 4 1/2 stars. I love how Marie Force tackles real relationship problems. She brings up the importance of communication, trust, honesty, and commitment. At first you think the guy is to blame and but as you slowly read on, you see how they both contributed to their "divorce". To learn to accept your mistakes, work together, and try are the messages this book delivers very well. On top of that, the characters also have to deal with grief, both handles it in different ways. Although not as thrilling as Love At First Flight, the characters have a lot of depth, the story is romantic, and it is quite memorable. I think I've found myself another favorite author.

The story follows a big star (and smexy) quarterback, Ryan Sanderson, and his journey to winning his wife, Susannah, back.
Line of Scrimmage was very moving and heart breaking; with the ups and downs of marriage, the darker side of stardom and the devastating loss of a child and the affect that can have on a relationship. I was drawn in from the first page and enjoyed every minute of it. The situations were realistic and the story very well written. This is my second read from author Marie Force and if what I've read so far is any indication of her talent then I will be picking up many more of her titles! My only wish is that the story was longer!

4 1/2 stars! I really liked this book. Ryan Sanderson was definitely sexy as well as being a nice guy. This book is different because the couple is married already, but their divorce will be final in 10 days. Ryan does not want that to happen. He still loves Susannah and wants to win her back.
I think what I liked most about this book was how it changed my mind about the characters. I started it with the expectation that Ryan screwed up and was going to have to work hard to win Susannah back. However, as I read more, I began to feel that Susannah was not very honest with Ryan and was even more to blame for their break-up. They were a sweet couple and I really routed for them. The book was touching. Good read.
It made me want to shout: "GET REAL!" Also, too slow.

I Also Recommend:
I have to gush. I absolutely LOVED this book and think I've sold a good dozen for her just by telling everyone about it. Marie Force has created characters that jump off the page and into your heart. Ryan is a hunk and Susie is justifiably tentative and you can just feel the love brimming between these two. Marie grabs us by the heart from page one and the ride only gets better from there. I was just mad that the story ended! I can't wait for her next book; Marie Force's books are ones for my keeper shelf!
Marie, it's a...(wait for it!) TOUCHDOWN! *grin

LINE OF SCRIMMAGE is a 'line in the sand' that new author Marie Force challenges romance readers to cross. It is a fun and interesting story of an imaginary, yet typically sexy NFL quarterback making a last-ditch effort to save his marriage while guiding his team to the Super Bowl. As Force¿s first published work (available in stores September 1st), she shows that she has what it takes to become a familiar name to readers. Although she writes in the women's fiction and romance genre, it is clear that she can accurately research for the subplots as well as the main storyline. The creativeness in her 'football speak' is accurate and timely. I predict well see this author's name on bookracks again in the near future.
