About the Author

Vladimir Smirnov (1887–1974) was a famous Soviet mathematician whose areas of expertise included complex and conjugate functions in Euclidean spaces. His theoretical work had important applications to the propagation of waves in elastic media and the oscillation of elastic spheres.
