Overview

In the early and mid-nineties, Gary, Indiana, was a city plagued with drugs and had one of the highest murder rates per capita in the nation. A native of that city, Alex Richardson, a young dedicated patrolman, is asked to join a group of veteran detectives. This has been his dream, to be a cop—to be a detective. He soon learns about the streets and the choices that force dedicated cops over the edge—all in the name of good. He finds that sometimes it is dangerous on both sides of the line, and he will take you on that journey as he crosses that line in this novel—Lines Crossed.

You are taken deep inside the inner-workings of a narcotics unit and their procedures from working with informants, to the undercover, and the arrest. Also shown is the corruption by the police and prosecutors. Richardson incorporates his personal life and how it is affected by his undercover work to make this a shocking and enjoyable fast-paced read.

This is a poignant tale with a lesson for everyone—the police officer, the hustler and the common citizen.

    Temptation

Officer Richardson had it all and it began with his promotion from patrolman to detective for the Lake County Drug Task Force. He always wanted to be a detective and being able to do undercover work was just icing on the cake. Working on the task force wasn't what Detective Richardson had anticipated. He saw corruption occurring with normalcy. He soon began participating in the corruption, from padding his time sheet to using seized items in his home to making side deals with confidential informants to support his gambling habit. Detective Richardson wasn't all bad; he helped in putting away a lot of drug dealers and getting a lot of drugs off the streets of Gary, Indiana. He risked his life numerous times as an undercover officer.

Alex H. Richardson's "Lines Crossed" was a well written and thought out account. There were very few grammatical errors. It was a little dry for my taste and could've had a little more action. On another note Alex Richardson is a cutie (smile). I give "Lines Crossed" a four. Good job!

    Lines Crossed

Very interesting. I learned a lot about a detective and his life working narcotics. It wasn't just all police, it was a nice addition of the way his personal life was affected.

    Lines Crossed

I could not put this book down. It gave me an insight on the inner workings of a drug task force. To read the true story of an undercover cop and not a fictionversion was great. It felt as if I were there--as if it was a movie.
