Poco o nulla è trapelato, se non il titolo, L'inumano , e il fatto che i suoi capitoli ripercorreranno lo scandirsi delle ere cosmiche e geologiche. Eppure Kara Murnau, titolare senza scrupoli dell'omonima casa editrice, ha già deciso di farlo concorrere al Premio Strenna, la più importante vetrina letteraria nazionale, e organizza una serie di incontri con i giurati, perché l'autore possa conquistarsene, nei modi più spregiudicati, il favore. Ma Parente - che nel frattempo sotto pseudonimo firma la saga di Giusi S., romanzetti pornotrash di infima categoria e grandi tirature, e che tra telefonate anonime e più o meno reali pedinamenti si sente incastrato nelle trame di un presunto complotto - di quel libro non ha ancora scritto una riga. Così quando si risveglia, nudo, con i polsi e le caviglie stretti in una morsa, all'interno di una stanza buia in cui viene esposto - e sottoposto - a continue atrocità, lo scrittore sa che è giunto il momento di raccontare una storia completamente nuova. Sicuro che, per il mondo esterno, "Massimiliano Parente" non esiste più, che nessuno verrà mai a cercarlo, sente che non c'è via d'uscita all'orrore in cui si è trasformata la sua quotidianità. Se non quella di lasciare che si faccia di lui un esperimento biologico, un evento irripetibile del pensiero, nel tentativo estremo di superare il concetto stesso di "umano"... Spiazzante e coraggioso, insolente e sfacciato, estremo e accattivante, L'inumano , al contrario del suo corrispondente narrativo, esiste (ma i capitoli si chiamano come le ere geologiche...) e Massimiliano Parente, a differenza del suo alter ego letterario, non vive recluso in una clinica degli orrori, ma ha dato vita a un'opera tragica e densa di comicità, a un quadro impietoso e irresistibile del Paese e dell'invece resistibilissimo demi-monde della cultura. E con la sua scrittura incontinente, realistica e insieme visionaria, ha dato forma scandalosamente esilarante a una ribellione contro tutti i riti condivisi della società, e i luoghi comuni e non comuni che pesano sulle esistenze degli uomini. Senza risparmiare nessuno, a cominciare da se stesso.
