From The CriticsReviewer: Anna L. Jarrett, PhD, ACNP-ACNS,(University of Arkansas)
Description: This is the second edition of a certification review book for emergency nursing. With evidence-based practice, a new edition is necessary to maintain currency. The detachable card in the front allows a nurse to attempt the questions in the left column of each page, then uncover the right column to see the correct answers with the rationales.
Purpose: The purpose is to prepare nurses to take the Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) examination.
Audience: It is intended for emergency department nurses.
Features: The book is well organized, divided according to body system emergencies. The quality of the questions is the distinguishing feature of the book. The format of the pages, with questions in one column and answers and rationales in the other, makes it easy for nurses to test themselves.
Assessment: This is a highly useful book and is in great demand. There is a big push for certification for nurses working in emergency departments, and this book will prepare them for the exam. It is also a good review for all emergency department nurses.
