Lisa Kelly from Ireland - What a Delight

You will be asking yourselves, “Where did this girl come from?” And your next question will be “Is there more?” You will be asking those questions after you recover from the truly moving experience she gives you. I’m no music critic but I dare say this is indeed a rare find. Her voice is so rich, tender and emotionally powerful that your heart will have no choice but surrender. She slowly tugs away at it as she progresses through the album. I surrendered mine by the time she sang May it Be – From the Lord of the Rings. And I still had more to listen to. What a delight! The album contains a mix of Irish, traditional and contemporary songs. Whatever your preference what really matters is the voice you will hear coming out of those speakers. That’s always the bottom line. Your speakers will fall in love with her. I could give you a review of each song. But then I will be spoiling the fun for you. I will tell you this – Trying to select a favorite will be a difficult and delightful task. I did have a head start on this album. I purchased mine from Ireland. This is the US release of the same album. I hope they put in extra production lines. If not, don’t be surprised to see stock outs. It is that good. But what do I care. I have mine. Where did Lisa come from? Well Ireland of course! She is currently singing with the highly successful Celtic Woman. You may have seen them on a PBS special. I could give you the details but you can do a search. They have the Celtic Woman DVD from the show as well as a CD. Read the reviews. You will be pleasantly surprised. Does she have another CD? I only wish. She has been so busy with the Celtic Woman show that they can’t get her back in the studios. When they do I’ll be first in line. And yes, I’ll go to Ireland to get it if I have to.

    need this cd!

I discovered Lisa on my Enya Pandora station and have since made a station for her on Pandora. It's my favorite! Whenever a song from this cd comes up, I wish that I could like it several times. My favorite is "Now We Are Free," the last track on the cd. She sings with such emotion, such skill. I can feel the swells in the music in my heart, it's awesome. I don't think it's possible to get tired of this song. Or any song from this cd. Lisa is a brilliant singer and this cd is an excellent showcase of that.

One Of The Best Celtic Woman CDs

I have listened to many a Celtic Women CDs...but never had I been so excited by this. This is a wonderful artist. My two ultimate favorites on this disc are Shiulil A Run (1st) and May It Be (7th). She makes Shuilil A Run very upbeat, different from how I've originally heard it. In my opinion, she actually sings May It Be better than Enya, if the truth be known. The reason? Her voice is so incredibly rich and pure and every note can be heard clear as a bell from her, instead of the bass filled, almost muffled sound from Enya. I can actually here the violins playing when she sings it, not only her voice, which makes the song all the more enjoyable. Lisa Kelly has got to be one of the greater Celtic Singers out there. I hope she goes far.

    Nothing particularly special

This "Celtic Woman" solo album leaves much to be desired. Although she has a lovely voice, all the music starts to sound the same after a while. She also reaches beyond her talent by attempting "May it Be" and "Now We are Free." If you wish to hear those songs truly performed perfectly, listen to the original artists (Enya and Lisa Gerrard respectively). This "Celtic Woman" attempts to sound like some of the greats, but just comes out flat.
