Editorial Reviews

From The Critics
Reviewer: Janet Welch, RN, DNS (Indiana University School of Nursing)
Description: This book provides students with helpful hints on how to study, take notes, and prepare for an exam. Focusing on individuals across the life span, brief case studies are presented, followed by review questions allowing students to use their critical thinking and diagnostic reasoning skills. Students are directed to code incorrect answers and make a grid enabling them to evaluate whether patterns exist in their incorrect responses. Included with the book is a computer program that allows students to take practice questions.
Purpose: The purpose is to help students in developing competencies in test taking. In addition, it serves as a learning and evaluation tool for nursing content. The book focuses on nursing process across the life span.
Audience: The intended audience is nursing students. The contributors to the book are credible.
Features: The book features a guide for exam preparation, case studies, and questions coded in five areas: nursing process, client needs, cognitive level, human function, and critical requirements. Indexes are presented and direct students to nursing problems and medical diagnoses.
Assessment: This book should be extremely useful to nursing students throughout their nursing program and should allow the student to identify weak areas in preparation for the NCLEX examination. I would highly recommend purchasing this book.
