Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marcie Flinchum Atkins
Fuzzytail Bunny is going somewhere. Each spread asks the bunny where it is going. The bunny hops through the forest, the park, the pond, the meadow, and then the reader realizes that the bunny is actually going home to its burrow. While the premise of this book is simple, the language is rich for a board book. The story latches onto the familiar and the unexpected. The pond is familiar and common, but at the pond there is the unexpected skunk cabbage. The meadow is familiar, but McCue's description of it being "where the silence is deepest...where the dew falls early" gives it a poetic feel. This book could entertain a two year old and still be used as a mentor text for beginning writers in kindergarten and first grade. This is probably a result of it being abridged from a longer work. McCue's illustrations are colorful and capture the vivid landscapes the bunny hops through on its way home. Reviewer: Marcie Flinchum Atkins
