Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
First published in hardcover as Are You Ready for Bed?, the board book Little Bunny's Bedtime! by Jane Johnson, illus. by Gaby Hansen, with its protagonists sporting a fuzzy texture on the cover, spotlights a universal nighttime scene-the youngest bunny can't fall asleep, and Mommy's patience seems boundless. PW called it "as warm and familiar as a much-beloved blanket." Copyright 2006 Reed Business Information.
Children's Literature
With all of her little bunnies tucked in for the night, Mrs. Rabbit settles in for some much needed peace and quiet. Her youngest bunny has other ideas. He crawls out of bed and goes in search of his mother, claiming he cannot sleep. How can Mrs. Rabbit be angry when all her littlest bunny wants is to "stay up with his mommy forever"? Mrs. Rabbit patiently tries everything conducive to sleep: a soft lullaby, a bubble bath, and even warm milk. Finally a game of "bunny hops" has the desired effect and Mrs. Rabbit lovingly tucks her precocious little bunny into bed. Exhausted, she crawls into bed herself, only to wake a moment later to the sound of another of her little bunnies wide awake and claiming he can't go to sleep. The reader knows that she will lull this bunny to sleep, too, with the loving patience only a parent can exhibit. This touching tale charmingly illustrates the special love between a parent and child, and Mrs. Rabbit's gentle mothering epitomizes the fortitude and devotion required to care for children. Children will enjoy the adorable little bunny's antics and the book's playful illustration. The board book version offers pages with soft bunnies to touch. Parents will identify with poor Mrs. Rabbit and treasure the delightful illustration of the parent-child bond. This will be a favorite bedtime story for children, as well as the adults who love them. A reissue and reformat of the original title Are You Ready For Bed. 2006, Tiger Tales, Ages 2 to 5.

    A reviewer

My son is two and absolutely loves this book. We have to read it over and over again. Each night, he'll find something fun and new within the pages to focus on...whether it be 'rub-a-dub-dub', or 'stirry, whirly, creamy white'...we love reading it together.
