Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Jennie DeGenaro
Who could resist picking up this book? After seeing the cover, anyone would want to read it. There is a "Little Critter" on the book cover, in bed with a thermometer in his mouth, a teddy bear at his side, and a comic book in front of him. Little Critter, like most children, has ideas for what he wants for breakfast and what he wants to play. He tells his mother, who has other ideas, and sends him back to bed. She knows he is sick and what is best for him. The way Little Critter feels about being a little sick is revealed at the end of the book. There are five levels of difficulty for the "I Can Read" books, and these are identified by colors. This "My First" book displays a yellow circle to indicate the book is ideal for sharing with an emergent reader. Beginning readers will need help with some words. This series is great for readers who want a challenge at easy levels. Readers may enjoy progressing through the various levels as they become more proficient readers. Reviewer: Jennie DeGenaro
