School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Gr 1-3-- A dreamlike English countryside is the setting for this story. A young girl and her family move to the country, where she and her brother have difficulty making friends. When their dog disappears, the boy and girl search for him and find friends as well as the canine wanderer. This serene, satisfying account of a child's predicament is reminiscent of the work of Carol and Donald Carrick, featuring gentleness in the illustrations and the same qualities of care and concern among family members. Children and adults are drawn with soft, fuzzy edges, in scenes that enhance the quiet, understated text. Best in one-on-one situations or with small groups. --Suzanne Wolfe, formerly at Shady Side Academy Junior School, Pittsburgh
