About the Author

Andrea Matei, a dynamic Canadian-born artist, has masterfully woven the threads of acting, modeling, dance, and literature into a captivating tapestry of creativity. Born with an innate spark of imagination, Andrea's artistic journey began at a tender age of three with dance classes and has since blossomed into a multifaceted career that spans various mediums. Years of rigorous dance training and mesmerizing performances paved the way for Andrea's emergence as a young artist with boundless potential as she started producing her first mini web series of short dance films " Little Girl, Big Imagination" at only 12 years old. The series, born as an artistic outlet, seamlessly merged dance, storytelling, and visual artistry, offering fellow dancers a unique platform to shine on camera as well encouraging little kids to pursue the art of movement. At the age of 13, she transformed her web series into a Children's Picture Book Series, a literary endeavor that sought to nurture a love for reading among young children. Building upon the foundation of her dance films, the books ingeniously utilized real-life images of characters in real-life situations, transporting readers into the vivid world of a young girl's imagination. Through these books, Andrea not only encouraged the pursuit of movement and expression but also instilled the joy of storytelling and literary exploration in the hearts of her readers.

The "Little Girl, Big Imagination: At the Beach" book is perfect for little children in pre-school or grade 1-2 as the book is colourful, contains real life pictures of the main character as well as the objects of her imagination and uses simple easy to read words. What's great about this book is that the text is repetitive in order to help the young readers recognize the words easily by the end of the book. Highly recommend this and the upcoming books in the series.

As a mother of a 5 year old going into Senior Kindergarten, this book was perfect to read through the summer as it consists of lively real life pictures of a little girl and a dreamy story, which makes it relatable and enjoyable. The word list at the beginning of the book makes a huge difference from the start as the child is prepared to recognize the words throughout the text. The fact that the text is highly repetitive, makes for a great learning experience. I definitely recommend this book.
