From The Critics
"Little Gorilla's velvety-soft world seems as comfortably secure as the story's evocation of love and friendship."
Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Everyone loves the baby Gorilla—his parents, the Pink Butterfly, Green Parrot and Red Monkey. Young Elephant and Old Elephant shower affection on Little Gorilla and Old Hippo is happy to transport Little Gorilla wherever he wants to go. But as he grows up from a sweet little thing to a big hairy ape, he wonders if he will still be loved. Yes, of course he will be loved—all his friends and family are there to celebrate his fifth birthday in a heartwarming story about the constancy of friendship and familial love. The colored pencil drawings wonderfully depict the emotions of all the animals and especially Gorilla. There is always an opportunity to extend learning by looking at and naming the colors of the animals. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

    Perfect for 1st Birthday1

The story is engaging, the illustrations are both beautiful and amusing, and the lap board format is just that - perfect for sharing with your one-year-old on your lap.

    Wonderful book!

This is one of my favorite (if not my absolute favorite) board books. It's about a baby gorilla who is afraid of getting older and not being a baby anymore. It's simple, gentle and adorable. After we cleared out all of the baby books, we kept this one.
