Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
In this companion book to Summer Vacation, little ones are shown helping out at home. The chores include vacuuming and washing clothes. These days there are not a lot of suburban or city kids who would be familiar with clothes pins. Each spread offers a tactile element and on this one it is a sweater that has just been laundered. In the next scene, the kids are helping in the garden by watering plants and harvesting ripe red tomatoes. This one is followed by cleaning the car with a big yellow sponge that kids can touch. Many families have pets so there is a spread devoted to pet care. In the final pages kids head off to the kitchen to help there. Throughout the book there are questions, objects to name, colors to identify, and more. It is a much better choice that its companion and the only items that may not seem to be properly named is a measuring jug which in American English would refer to a measuring cup. Part of the "Busy Tots" series. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
