Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
Celebrate the joys of a toddler in the modern family with this enchanting and lovely tale featuring three delightful dinos.

This green-scaled trio includes the sweet and energetic Little One, who starts the day with a joyous wake-up call for Mommy and Daddy. After ousting them out of bed and eating his breakfast, the adorable preschooler lollygags (as Little Ones are prone to do) before getting dressed. Then Mom and Dad drop him in Day Care, where Little One blows bubbles and reads books until it's time to go home. The fun continues, as the family plays in the living room, with Little One riding gleefully on his father's back as they play Horsey. Pooped, Mom and Dad take a rest, and the Little One sings them a lullaby. Little one is soon tucked into bed, snug and cozy, with Mom and Dad at his side.

This wonderfully touching story perfectly captures the magical world of toddlers. Using warm tones and charming detail, the illustrations evoke a sense of happy serenity and structure within the family. The Little One is especially adorable as he sings his tired parents a sleepytime song, while clutching his trusty teddy bear. The text is short and simple, making it perfect for a bedtime read. Rhymes are easy to follow and flow superbly from page to page.

Little Ones Do beautifully reveals the sweet harmony of a family full of love, laughs, and one lovely Little One. (Amy Barkat)

School Library Journal
PreS-The dragon family consists of a mother, a father, and a Little One. The story is told through the course of one very busy, very typical day. From wake up to bedtime, through school and play, youngsters follow the preschooler's activities. This is a good book for working families as it shows the important role that each member has. The bright, colorful pictures show the little green dragon jumping on his parents' bed to wake them up, washing and dressing, and entering the cluttered, cozy classroom, and two exhausted dragons after a full day and round of play before bedtime. With its short, rhyming text and large, clear illustrations, this will be useful in preschool programs.-Karen Scott, Valley Intermediate School, Pelham, AL Copyright 2001 Cahners Business Information.
Kirkus Reviews
A comforting bedtime story that takes the reader through the highlights of what could be a typical family day (leaving out little difficulties like tantrums, tears, and spills). A trio of lime green dragons makes up this family: two parents and the Little One. They start their day when the youngster puts an end to "Daddy's snore, snore, snoring," and Mommy's sleep by hopping on the bed and awakening them, "Because that's what Little Ones do!" Hunter proceeds through the day touching on breakfast, cleanup, dressing, and daycare. Then Mommy and Daddy bring their Little One home for some family playtime after which Little One sweetly bestows upon his parents a song before bed. Once the toddler dragon is tucked in there's still plenty of time for snuggles and hugs. The simple, rhymed text's lilting cadence is pleasing to the ear, making it a perfect bedtime read-a-loud. The illustrations, on extra-firm, oversized stock are done in warm, chalky-soft tones that add to the coziness of this effort. A great choice for working parents as well as any snug family.
